  1. While I won't argue against the lopsidedness of the Cubs appeal nationally and locally, I refuse to use game attendance as a determining factor in the comparison. Sadly, many games at Wrigley have no more "fans" attending than at USCF....but the park is filled by casual-bordering-on-not-at-all fans who are there to be there
  2. I'm late to the thread (obviously, having watched the whole game) but I couldn't believe how undisciplined FSU was with all the dumb penalties. PSU's offense wasn't so hot, but the extra yardage didn't hurt. Lot's of dumb penalties on offense as well for the Noles. Can't win with that lack of focus. I may be biased, but good luck having the Rose Bowl be as exciting as the end of this game. Prove me wrong USC/TEXAS!
  3. Agreed. How can this fly? In other news, there is a football game on tonight.
  4. Didnt they say Neifi was only back-up when he signed in 2004? ... I dont really expect one of Dusty's boys to only get the back-up. How can Grissom be one of Dusty's boys when he's never played for him? Macias and Hollandsworth had never played for Dusty either...
  5. West Virginia is making a statement here. Sorta like what Oregon failed to do a few days ago. Lack of respect should be a motivating factor, and it clearly is for the Mountaineers. I guess those bufugly uniforms the Ducks wore would take the will to live out of anyone. Nice to see some Big 10 wins today. Expect another tomorrow night!
  6. Iowa kicked a beautiful onsides kick but were flagged for offsides. Replays show no one was actually over the line when he kicked the ball. The color guy was having a coronary about it he was so pissed. "This play was too close and too important to throw that flag." I totally agree.
  7. The Fiesta Bowl is the only game where I would make an exception for a game ending in a tie this year. I hate both teams and hope they all get food poisoning.
  8. Pittsburgh always has been and always will be a Steelers town. They will never sell that team.
  9. Gordon is starting to look like a Jalen Rose/Jamal Crawford redux. Take 25 shots, only 7 of which are good, get hot from 3, pad your ppg at the foul line, play no defense.
  10. Must be nice for the other NL East teams to have a AAA team in their division
  11. I missed the 1st half of the Sun Bowl, but did NU get that big lead and then just stop playing or what?
  12. Looks like you might be able to hang onto that screen name yet
  13. This fits perfectly into another poster's theory on the off season (sorry, I can't remember who, but it was brilliant). His theory was that each consecutive move made by Hendry is worse than the last, such to make the last move not look so bad: Trade for Juan Pierre? Was it worth the prospects? Sign Jacque Jones? That Pierre deal doesn't look so bad now Sign Marquis? Jones is an All-Star by comparison!
  14. Perfect! A meaningless game to get Grossman his reps......and a broken kneecap so we can see Orton lose the first playoff game.
  15. The only thing that could make Oregon's uniforms worse is if one sleeve was orange.
  16. According to Gammons this morning on Mike and Mike, every GM he has asked has reported that Zito is unavailable, and that the only people making him available are the media. /FWIW
  17. Oregon fans can quit their b!tching about a BCS game........now
  18. Yes, but he has re-earned Paterno's respect (slowly but surely)
  19. People still pay Pokey to pay baseball? Hell you say!
  20. I am never shocked when a player from one of the Big 3 Florida schools is arrested for anything. You'd prefer to see a player from Club Med U get arrested, but any little bit helps for PSU I guess.
  21. Honda all the way. My first car was a '90 Honda CRX. Bought it used with 86,000 miles on it, drove it till it had well over 110,000, then sold it when a 2-seater was no longer advantageous (best mileage ever though, and you could park it anywhere on Chicago streets) Then bought a used Chevy Cavalier that was the biggest nightmare of all time. I hated that car for the entire 18 months I owned it and I hope it's burning in hell right now. Then bought a brand new 2003 Honda CRV and I love it. Gas mileage is pretty good for a small-sized SUV (around 22-23 mpg) and it's plenty big enough for the family of 4 plus groceries. Plus, Honda's have great resale value and the engines go forever.
  22. I voted Astros, because no Clemens, Bagwell is old and busted, Biggio is like 80, Ensberg won't repeat those numbers, and Lance "Glass Jaw" Berkman can't stay healthy. But it's a photo finish...
  23. Furcal has never had 150 RBI in a season Furcal has never won an MVP award Furcal accepted the Dodger's deal without allowing the Cubs to counter.
