  1. Lee had career highs in HR, RBI and SLG this year. Clearly on the decline You know what, you're right. It would be a smart move to give a 30 year old Carlos Lee 12-15 million for 5 years. yes Year Ag Tm Lg G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI SB CS BB SO BA OBP SLG TB SH SF IBB HBP GDP +--------------+---+----+----+----+---+--+---+----+---+--+---+---+-----+-----+-----+----+---+---+---+---+---+ 1999 23 CHW AL 127 492 66 144 32 2 16 84 4 2 13 72 .293 .312 .463 228 1 7 0 4 11 RoY-7 2000 24 CHW AL 152 572 107 172 29 2 24 92 13 4 38 94 .301 .345 .484 277 1 5 1 3 17 2001 25 CHW AL 150 558 75 150 33 3 24 84 17 7 38 85 .269 .321 .468 261 1 2 2 6 15 2002 26 CHW AL 140 492 82 130 26 2 26 80 1 4 75 73 .264 .359 .484 238 0 7 4 2 5 2003 27 CHW AL 158 623 100 181 35 1 31 113 18 4 37 91 .291 .331 .499 311 0 7 2 4 20 MVP-18 2004 28 CHW AL 153 591 103 180 37 0 31 99 11 5 54 86 .305 .366 .525 310 0 6 3 7 10 2005 29 MIL NL 162 618 85 164 41 0 32 114 13 4 57 87 .265 .324 .487 301 0 11 7 2 8 SS,MVP-17,AS 2006 30 TOT 161 624 102 187 37 1 37 116 19 2 58 65 .300 .355 .540 337 0 11 6 2 22 MIL NL 102 388 60 111 18 0 28 81 12 2 38 39 .286 .347 .549 213 0 7 4 2 13 AS TEX AL 59 236 42 76 19 1 9 35 7 0 20 26 .322 .369 .525 124 0 4 2 0 9 +--------------+---+----+----+----+---+--+---+----+---+--+---+---+-----+-----+-----+----+---+---+---+---+---+ 8 Seasons 1203 4570 720 1308 270 11 221 782 96 32 370 653 .286 .340 .495 2263 3 56 25 30 108

  3. No, don't you see? Once baseball players hit the mythic age of 32, they automatically go down every year (even when they don't)
  4. I was pretty sure I remembered that A. Jones was not on the market. So let's stop talking about him as an option now please. Rotoworld also says Willis is not likely to be traded.
  5. latest Rotoworld blurb on Drew doesn't list the Cubs as a team interested
  6. The hottest free agent? How about Dave Roberts:
  7. Interesting considering they just signed him to an extension, right? EDIT: Wrong
  8. perhaps there is some bleedover from Hudson and Mulder, both of whom were outstanding in Oakland and have been mediocre (and injured) once the big payday came. I think people can be skeptical, especially for that amount of $$$ and years
  9. At least it wasn't named after another bank. Oh, wait....
  10. sure, they were cheap and young, but their 1.41, 1.56 and 1.58 WHIPS last year weren't anything you'd actively try to acquire. In other words, having seen what they did last year, you wouldn't try trading for them, and they would all be behind Marmol/Marshall/Guzman/Hill/Ryu in the Cub pitching logma.
  11. I agree and here's something far fetched to think about. On Baseball this Morning on XM the jeniuses there were advocating signing Soriano to play left because I quote Orestes Destrada (loosely) " Matt Murton after a hot first month was a disapointment the rest of the season so I would play Soriano in left and play this kid, this great kid the Cubs have Angel Pagan in centerfield" it's good to know that you don't ever have to do research or have facts to be paid to share your opinion on things
  12. Mets are also rumored to be inquiring with the White Sox about Vazquez (and his $15.5 million next year). Sure, just spend whatever
  13. Someone explain that logic to me please. I tried but my brains started leaking out my ears
  14. Sheffield agreed to go to Detroit because they promised he wouldn't have to play 1B. How soon would Andrew Miller be ready for Detroit? When he is, a guy like Bonderman, Maroth, etc. becomes expendable. Of course they'll have to fill Rogers' spot here soon as well
  15. Pass. we may need a merge here. I just posted almost exactly the same thing in another new thread, mine from rotworld. Can we get a mod please!
  16. This is the first report of actual numbers/years I've heard connected to Zito. per Rotoworld:
  17. 6-6 teams shouldn't be allowed to a bowl period. It's already ludicrous that close to (if not more than) 1/2 the Division 1-A teams go to a bowl game every year. There have to be SOME standards!
  18. The Phillies new AAA team (for 2008) will be named the IronPigs. God I love minor league baseball team names.
  19. I don't really like the idea of giving anyone a deal much longer than 3 or 4 years. It's impossible to trade that kind of contract if things go south in the first couple of years of the deal
  20. Wrigley is notorious for having one of (if not the) hardest RF's to play in the NL. You can't just stick anyone over there.
  21. PSU now 2-0 with win over UNC-Greensboro. Cornley, last year's Big 10 Freshmen of the Year, went 23 and 11 for the game. Stony Brook up next (yes, they have an asstastic non-con)
  22. $42 million for negotiating rights is completely and utterly stupid. If they sign Drew (per rotoworld) as well, they'll easily spend $100 million in one day. That's ridiculous. I applaud Hendry for not joining this madness.
