    Maybe Ryan Theriot fans can take comfort in the fact that he could be painted as the poor man's David Eckstein, so Hendry will anoint him his starting 2B and future WS MVP

    It wouldn't surprise me one bit if Hendry went after Weaver. It would follow his M.O. of copying the WS winner, but not really understanding why that team really won.

    i've had the CIN vs. ATL game on in the background here, and when they showed the Bears score at halftime I about did a spit take

    College Football is good, but not when over 50% of the teams get to a bowl. Would you take pride in winning the AmeriTrade.com Salted Nuts Bowl?

    Not me. I get either the Bengals-Falcons game or the Eagles-Whoever game.

    Why does it matter? It's not like they're taking the bowl spots from better teams, and most of them are Christmas week games that not many people watch outside their fandoms. I'd rather watch an 8-4 team from the MAC or CUSA than some team that played four bad non-conference teams and then beat the worst two teams in their own conference. The way the system is set-up is that a 6-6 team cannot get into a bowl game over a team with a +.500 record from any D-I school. The only exception might come along with the BCS, but that's rare and would only impact 1 team. Or if they're ND. When do the new polls come out?

    In the PSU vs. Purdue game today, the Purdue Player of the Game was some guy with 5 tackles. The player of the game in the PSU vs Illinois game was PSU's punter. That's even more sad than the kicker being the player of the game. This is very true. Based on how they looked today, O$U might romp all over Michigan

    but now they're tied. It's a clear cut case of pre-season polling affecting mid-season polling. If there were no pre-season polls, no one would have USC as #2 or #3 in the country right now.

    PSU defense looking damn good the past few weeks. Too bad the offense just stalls in the red zone. Either way, they'll make a good game of it next week in Madison. Already bowl eligible, so now it's time to try for a New Year's day game.
