  1. I have bitter feelings towards the Big 10-Rose Bowl tie in. Cost PSU a shot at the NC in 1994
  2. That is such a terrible name to fight over i'm not surprised. When I tried http://www.ironpigs.com , the biker website came up. I thought 'uh oh'
  3. Penn State lost to Stony Brook. Yes, Stony Brook. For shame. At least the players admitted that they were getting a little cocky after going 2-0
  4. maybe they are all trying to emulate Woody Hayes
  5. this is entirely tongue-in-cheek
  6. First it was "catch the ball", and now, with the mighty 83 win Cardinals as champs, Hendry has taken it upon himself to make the Cubs in their image: [x] - Hire angry old manager [x] - Sign white, scrappy middle infielder [x] - Pay good defensive, light-hitting catcher who hits a HR now and again [ ] - Sign a bunch of reclamation projects and hope pitching coach turns them into good pitchers (Meche, Marquis, Padilla) [ ] - Pay a ton of money to old, overrated center fielder [ ] - Sign 123 lb. Japanese dude to be 4th OF [ ] - Have the best player in the NL (don't count on it)
  7. Think outside the box, abuck. Outside the box. Well if Hendry, as someone suggested, was saying how happy he was as a way of touting Izturis, then Cleveland is simply trying to get Murton for less by saying that they're only interested in a position which the Cubs obviously have nothing to offer them. Obviously I meant that Hendry is thinking of new, creative ways to make this team worse: "Hmmm, I currently employ no less than five players who could, in a pinch, function as a back-up shortstop. How about I give them a cheap, young, productive and improving starting left fielder instead? Eureka!" 1. Trade Matt Murton 2. 3. Profit!
  8. Think outside the box, abuck. Outside the box. i think it's a case of "we'd like a backup SS, but heck, if you want to give us Murton, who are we to complain?"
  9. - Alex Gonzalez may sign a 3 year deal with the White Sox
  10. None of these seemed worth starting their own thread over: - Mariners listening to offers on Sexson and Beltre - Astros interested in Woody Williams - Yankees may sign Rich Aurilia to multi-year deal - Many interested in Jason Jennings, including Cubs, Astros, Twins and Rangers - Rangers asking availability of Tim Hudson and Horacio Ramirez - Angels interested in Freddy Garcia - Indians want a backup SS in exchange for Westbrook, but aren't high on Ronny Cedeno. Cubs may trade Murton to the Tribe if they upgrade with Soriano in LF. - Ray Durham seeking 2 year, $18 mil deal - Giants have offered 3/$30M to Pierre and GMJr., and will sign whichever accepts first. - Ted Lilly drawing interest from a dozen teams including Cubs, Yankees, Giants. His agent says he can get him a "4/$35M today" - Astros may try to get Clemens to re-sign as a closer, especially if they trade Lidge
  11. I think the main argument is do you want Manny for 2 or 3 years or Drew for 5 or 6? Depending on the prospects it took, I think Manny for 2 to 3 is more ideal, what with Drew's injury history and Manny's awesomeness
  12. Yeah! WOO! Penn State totally killed Notre Dame last night! In your face Irish! What? It was Women's Basketball? Whatever
  13. Cubs sign Drew vs. Red Sox sign Drew, trade Manny to Cubs Discuss

    Apples

Granny Smith, the tarter the better. BTW, about 2 years ago, I was at my buddy's parents' house and his mom had these green grapes that tasted like Granny Smith apples. They were AWESOME, but I've never found them again. HELP!

    Milk

We buy 1% as a compromise. I grew up on Skim, my wife on 2%. I think 2% is too "sweet", especially on cereal. Skim always tastes colder and more refreshing to me.
  16. Yeah, but the travel was blatant. Yep, it was. Very disappointing loss tonight. I especially liked how the defense stepped it up the final 12 minutes, but otherwise sucked the first 36 minutes. Nice intensity, guys. I'm tired of the "get down by 20 early and stage amazing comeback" storyline with this team. Just play 48 minutes of good basketball please
  17. especially if Liriano is out for an extended time
  18. ???? BABIP ignores K's. right, so as such, 300 K's by Randy Johnson don't count as 0 for 300, they count for 0 for 0. I think he's just explaining why a guy like Prior or RJ has a BABIP against of .300 despite a OpAvg. much lower
  19. ha, no. I think #2 was Willie Randolph and #3 was Bocy
  20. Hughes plus Steve Stone was radio gold. I'm not a huge fan of Santo. Maybe as a 3rd guy, but he is useless as a color guy. Pat usually has to lead him to every point and cue him for every response
  21. Well, they play at Virginia this weekend. Virginia is awful. Still, don't you think it's funnier to have Miami playing in the Blue Turf Bowl, or Florida State in the Emerald Bowl, then to have them at home for the bowls? I take great joy in seeing them play in December, yes, especially against the likes of Nevada and UCLA (sorry Raisin)
