  1. Ha! That was horrible. Wow
  2. YES! Curse of the Golden Flower comes out tomorrow! I've been waiting for this since I saw the trailer during "Fearless"
  3. at least the 12th man is on the floor in crunch time
  4. GET A STOP PLEASE
  5. Believe it or not, Ben Gordon can not, in fact, save this team's butt in the 4th quarter of EVERY game. Carter hurt?
  6. Webber is old and busted. I would sign him for a 10-day at most and see what he gives you.
  7. That he did. BTW, that was Reggie Miller. That's what TNT gets for hiring a Ferengi to do color
  8. Did the color guy just say that "House is brought in to change the complexity of the game"?
  9. a 16 team conference is really, really dumb and i can't believe anyone approved it. You know your conference is too big when a) not everyone can play each other and b) the bottom 4 teams can't even participate in the conference tourney
  10. What we need is an SEC-Big East challenge! Oh wait, wrong sport...
  11. Paul Posluzny not being on Mel's top 25 tells me everything I already knew about Mel is true....he's a douche
  12. *crossing fingers that Dan Connor stays at PSU for senior year*
  13. how the? I've been checking throughout the evening, especially at work when I had nothing to do. I came across two different pairs in the club boxes, but these were the first in the lower price ranges. Of course, tickets only came up like once every 30 attempts. How is this game not sold out? It is. Every once in a while, especially as the game nears, a few tickets (and I do mean just a few) get released because of orders that couldn't go through for whatever reason. I was able to grab a pair for the game in '01 the night before because they released some. Of course, it took over 45 minutes of trying continuously and not finding any tickets for them to come up. wow, well bully for you. I'll be watching from the warmth of my living room, 600 miles East on I-80
  14. Is that two straight losses for Duke? Suck it, ESPN!

  16. How can they not be close when basically no one else in baseball wants Floyd?
  17. Perhaps since HD is not yet "standard" for American TV broadcasts then it isn't a monopoly, as it's still considered a premium service. As for monopoly's, it happens in the entertainment industry. Take EA and John Madden Football. How were they allowed an exclusive partnership with the NFL and NFLPA?
  18. Whoever called the DePaul upset over Pitt...well, thanks for trying
  19. He didn't sound too sure about this point, I'll admit. The exclusive rights to HD content should, however, concern anyone who isn't a DirecTV subsriber. Luckily I am...
  20. this has more to do with dropped signal than precipitation
  21. I had a very interesting conversation with my DirecTV installer last week (as he was installing my new DVR). Some of the things that you might like to know: - DirecTV is negotiating exclusive rights to just about every sports season package (NFL, MLB, NBA, NCAA, etc.) - They are also negotiating exclusive rights to most HD channels on "cable" TV (TBS, USA, TNT, MTV, ESPN, etc.) - DirecTV is way ahead of the game on the technology front. They currently have 2 "empty" satellites in orbit that are capable of broadcasting up to 500 HD channels each as soon as networks start switching over. - He claims Dish Network is a subsidiary of DirecTV and is purposely run poorly to incrase DirecTV's sales (and to skirt the "lack of competition" factor in most markets). He says Dish Network sublets satellite space from DirecTV and owns no satellites of their own.
  22. Last year's Florida team started out like 16-0 and was ranked #1 for an extended period of time. Villanova and NC State are both power conference teams. Penn State is from a power conference, but wouldn't you find it alarming if they made it to the tourney this year and won it?
  23. I'm fine with the Bears not being given a chance by the media. Make it bulletin board material. It did wonders for the Gators this past Monday. Right now, the AFC is the darling of the media, so the Bears being in the NFC, plus playing in the conference's worst division, is going to make people write them off. They went 2-2 against the AFC this year. What people fail to write about is that the Bears went 3-1 against playoff teams this year, etc., etc.
  24. I voted Plaschke. If not for FJM, I wouldn't even know who HatGuy is. But Plaschke not only writes for one of the nation's top newspapers, but he's also featured on Around the Horn, where his observations are even more inane and off base than his articles
