Boeheim said when Penn State joined the Big 10 that "Penn State will NEVER win the Big 10". He was pretty pissed they left and didn't join the Big East. Penn State would never win the Big East either. Hell, they'd be the third best team in the Patriot League. True but I think they would have had a better chance staying in the east recruiting basketball wise. Football, not so much. Penn State wasn't even hacking it in the A-10.

Shocked that there are none from NJ or MD. Those are usually "pipeline" states for us

PSU has like 22 verbals right now but we'll see how that goes tomorrow No 5-star guys, but many 4-star defensive guys. Looks like they're loading up on D-Linemen between last year and this year. A couple of 4-star OL as well. Rivals.com has them at #23 right now (they were #6 last year)

I don't get why you'd think that. I think this team is in a better position to sustain success than any super bowl loser in several years. Maybe they won't make it back for a long time, but they've got as good a chance as anybody in the NFC for the time being. I agree. They may not win 13 games again next year, but 10 ought to get the North Division. The other North teams have a lot of work to do...too much to do in one off season.

Clearly Selig/MLB would not enter into this contract if they weren't going to profit from it. I'm not sure all you amateur economists know all the facts here So are we to assume you are a professional economist with access to all the facts? The way I see it, for one million per team, they are cutting the audience for the EI package by 2/3 to 3/4 of the previous year. Dollarwise a win, exposure wise a huge loss. I guess I'll spend the $160 on something else this year. I was not inferring that I was an expert. But I think that a business as successful as MLB doesn't just randomly commit to one TV provider for their sports package if they don't think it will result in the greatest profitability. Perhaps they know something we don't as far as the future of DirecTV. As I said many, many pages back, there are rumors circulating that DirecTV is trying to negotiate exclusive rights to many channels' HD broadcasts. If that happens, expect DirecTV subscriptions to soar as people with HDTV's won't have any other options

I'm not dying to get rid of him, but I wouldn't be upset about losing him. I just wonder who Lovie would promote to defensive coordinator. I'm guessing Babich, but not sure. Whoever he promotes will be running the Cover 2 no matter what, so does it really matter? It matters. The Bears aren't a 100% cover 2 team. There does need to be some strategizing by the d coordinator. my point is just that the overall defensive strategy won't change much. It's not like they're going to move to a 3-4 or something next year.

I know that's going to be the official accepted story, but I refuse to believe that to be true. A 70+ completion percentage, a 68.3 rating. That's not taking a dump. That's not disaster Rex. That's better than what Roethlisberger did while winning last year's Super Bowl and he doesn't face anywhere near the scrutiny Grossman does. Rex did not have a good game, but he did not crap the bed either. rex wasnt that bad. he only made 1 bad pass really, the int to muhammad. the second INT came late in the 4th down by two TDs. Berrian was open but he underthrew him, but at that point he was just trying to make something happen to spark an unlikely comeback. He wasn't great, but he wasn't horrible. Unfortunately too many bears fans are blind to the fact that defense couldn't get off the field if their life depended on it as a main reason for losing. All year people blame rex and refuse to ever blame the D. Well the D was about as good/bad as rex in the super bowl. I mean the criticism of rex has really gotten out of hand. I hear people saying he threw so many bad balls....well he only threw 8 incompletions, a couple of which were drops. If you are going to criticize him at least do it for something that he actually did wrong (bad exchanges with kreutz, ints) I'm watching the Sportscenter highlights right now, and I don't think Grossman's worst pass was even the INT for the TD. It was the pass where he scrambled around, got away from pressure, could have ran for a first down but instead lofted it straight unto a Colts guy's hands. The Colts guy dropped it, but it was still a horrible pass. With that said though, Grossman was not "the reason" that the Bears lost. He wasn't good, but neither was the running game to help him, so he shouldn't shoulder all of the blame for the mistakes. Grossman needs to watch the tape of him doing what I bolded in your post as much as possible until his eyes glaze over. The end result didn't work, but he managed to stay on his feet under pressure and move. It was a such a difference from the usual "OHMYGODHERECOMESABIGSCARYMANMYFEETDON'TWORKOHCRAPI'M DOWN" we'd seen most of the year. only if they splice another shot of him throwing the ball away at the end of the play. Scrambling is nice and all, but trying to force it into double coverage is just another example of his poor decision making
