  1. Do you really think this for the long term betterment of theteam how long term are you talking? The Cubs are (supposedly) built to win now, so no, I don't want a struggling-yet-promising hitter in the lineup over an aged-yet-producing veteran if it costs an already struggling offense runs
  2. from what i gather, that's not exactly his cup of tea
  3. Probably true. The Cubs have just 4 HR this year and have given up 9. But they are also struggling with OBP. It's .313 overall, and sub .300 in each of the past 3 games. and against middling to bad pitchers. very, very frustrating
  4. So you're saying Guzman should play CF? :thumright:
  5. i have grown to hate the phrase "One Bad Inning"
  6. i never got into the parking lot at Miller Park, as there isn't enough parking for a sold out game. I had to park 1 1/2 miles away and walk. I got there mid 3rd inning
  7. you know who else had great stuff? Rick Ankiel /gas on the fire
  8. But that doesn't affect those stats. You can't give up 3 earned runs in the first and pretend to not share in the blame of a loss. Sure, but it wasn't a poor outing. No, it wasn't poor, it was terrible. cool, so anyone who doesn't pitch complete game shutouts is terrible? Just so I know so we can move forward That's a freaking stupid thing to write. Just stupid. There's a very big difference between 5 IP, 4 R, 3 ER and a 1.60 WHIP and a complete game shutout. Don't respond with that nonsense. well my exaggeration aside, what satisfies you from a guy like marquis? my guess is nothing, since you always find something bad to say about every situation No but as we're learning any pitcher having a bad game is subject to being chased with pitchforkes and torches until he turns arround and pitches a good game when he is lifted up and given the key to the city until he pitches a bad game and is chased with pitchforkes and torches......... unless it's Marquis (or Jacque) where they can run off 20 great games in a row and people will still say "yeah, but he still sucks, and will next time, you'll see"

  11. How? 1.60 WHIP 5.40 ERA That's flat out terrible. yes, but in the first inning, everyone acted like he was going to give up 30 runs by the 3rd. The truth is, he wasn't great, but the Cubs offense and defense were worse. This lineup should not have been shut down by Sampson. Marquis would have had to give up 0 or 1 runs for us to win today Nobody thought he was going to give up 30 runs by the 3rd. Marquis had a terrible outing. Izturis had a terrible game. The offense was terrible. I don't understand why people feel the need to focus on one thing and excuse everything else that happened. i'm not excusing it. i'm also not panicking over one start where he did better than most expected him to. He was part of the problem, not THE problem. Frankly, I don't care what he did last year. So far this year, he's been good once, decent but not great once. I'll hold my judgment for now
  12. okay, say Lou sticks Guzman out there instead of Miller, and in his first start, he goes 2 1/3, gives up 9 hits, 8 ER and walks 5. Then what?

  14. this thread is more fun than Illinois vs. Indiana basketball
  15. bad - cubs lose good - i was right not to overreact about marquis (unlike everyone else)
  16. ok seriously, this game is NOT on Marquis. Stupid offense
  17. Installing a rubber room? modeled after the one at the Dayton Swim Club
  18. i have to go move furniture out of my family room. I'd hope the Cubs have at LEAST one more base runner by the time I get back
  19. I don't know how high any team's winning percentages are when they go down 3 runs in the top of the 1st and they have Jason Marquis on the mound. :? sure, for this game, but people are writing off Marquis for the length of the contract because of one bad inning I think people are writing off Marquis because of one bad career. Wow, joined up yesterday and already picking iFights in every thread you've posted in. Great job. You're a welcome addition here. jersey cubs fan = Goony's Evil Twin. You missed the memo

  21. wouldn't you? Soriano has almost been picked off about a dozen times already
