  1. Youre right. It does give us a better chance to win. The only reason why you would go with Pie and Murton over Jones and Floyd is defense and I think right now we can use every part of offense we can get. Since when are Jones and Floyd automatic offensive improvements over Murton? They are each still sub 800 OPS OF with checkered pasts (Jones usually isn't very good and Floyd usually can't stay healthy). at this moment is all i'm saying I still don't think it's a given. nothing is a given. but at this moment, with the game on the line, i'd prefer floyd at the plate to murton
  2. I'd be willing to bet my life that the Bulls do not select Jeff Green. My money right now (pre-lottery) is the Bulls will land in the 7-10 range and get Roy Hibbert. Spencer Hawes, Yi Jianlian, and Al Horford are other possibilities depending on what draft pick we get. I don't think Horford will make it out of the top 5. Which is why I said "depending on what draft pick we get". I think it'll be 7-10 range, but it could be higher. Hopefully we can get lucky and get a top 5 pick and have a chance at Horford. Hibbert or Hawes wouldn't be a bad consolation prize though. can't get the #5 pick

  5. an OF of Soriano/Jones/Floyd gives the Cubs a better chance to win every day than Soriano/Pie/Murton, whether anyone wants to admit it or not
  6. *raises hand* me 2 Not sure which broadcast I'll see, but MLB Extra Innings is awesome Do you get that with your regular tv provider, or did you buy that channel separately? My local package is for middle Tennessee news networks. With the MLBEI package I get the games, but can't guarantee which broadcast I'll get. For example, I may get 2 games of a series from different broadcast teams. EI makes you appreciate the awesomeness of Len even more. I'd say that the broadcast teams for, oh, 27 out of the 30 teams are absolutely horrendous
  7. SF/PF from Georgetown. Did you watch March Madness this year? i was at work for pretty much the Elite 8 on
  8. i've never even heard of Jeff Green And strange things happen. Who though Brady Quinn would drop to #23 this year? Horford slipping a few spots isn't that unlikely
  9. *raises hand* can't get enough Fresh Prince of Bel Air, eh?
  10. it's very early, but the Cubs are behind 4 teams for the WC already. Chances are a team like Arizona will fade, but the Braves/Mets, Padres and Dodgers all look strong. I hope the Giants collapse, just because I hate almost everyone on that team.
  11. Still? When was he? I've heard him comment many times that this team still needs an inside scoring presence. Talk is cheap. He needs to go out and actually do it. and who were all the GM's who were offering these inside scorers at the deadline? Oh, right, just Jerry West, who wanted the two best players on the team
  12. sons of former/current ballplayers get extra breaks for sure. we had AJ Van Slyke here in State College last summer and he SUCKED. He was demoted from Class A to Short A when most guys of his ability would simply be cut
  13. he do your girlfriend or something? Quite an assumption you're making there Derwood saying that he actually has a girlfriend. oh well, he got b& before we could have much fun with him
  14. someone had to take the bullet for Roger's signing.
  15. not to mention all three in chicago
  16. the bulls were streaky at best with their overall play. on some possessions, they had really good ball movement, found open shooters, but missed. On others, they looked like they'd never played basketball before, travelling, mishandling the ball, et.c
  17. Didn't someone go through Jason's game log for last year and determine he would have had a lot better numbers except for a handful of real stinkers? Granted, I certainly didn't want him on the Cubs and I'm not quite ready to step on the bandwagon just yet, but he has shown to be an effective pitcher at times in the past, even if it was 1/3 of an inning at a time. :D I certainly like what he's done so far. And I won't complain if he keeps it up. Well, he had the two starts where LaRussa basically left him out to dry because the bullpen was completely taxed from the game before. On June 20, Mulder only went 2 1/3 and the Cards lost 20-6 to the White Sox. The next day Marquis pitched and gave up 13 runs in 5 innings. On July 17, Weaver only went 4 innings and the Cards lost 15-3 to the Braves. The next day Marquis went 5+ and gave up 12 runs. If you take those two starts out of the equation, he ends up with an ERA of 5.13. If he only gives up 5 runs in each of those starts in the same number of innings pitched, he has an ERA of 5.33. While these ERA's certainly aren't great by any means, they're a hell of a lot better than the 6.02 he put up. BTW, as an extra little stat I didn't notice before, Marquis game scores for these two games were -11 and -7 for the two games. And if you take out those 2 starts, you should also take out his 2 best starts. and if he didn't pitch at all, this ERA would have been 0.00
  18. Oh yeah, I can watch all 3 games on Fox Sports Pittsburgh http://www.northsidebaseball.com/PremiumForum/images/smiles/eusa_dance.gif
  19. Well, I guess we just have to go through this to learn. The challenge will be to keep this team together so they CAN learn. the team is in good shape to stay together. They shed PJ Brown's $8 mil and can use that towards Nocioni, plus they have their MLE I think Pax has positioned himself well for the offseason. Let's give him some credit, this has been a good year and the Bulls are looking good. And it's not over. the team should be attractive for a veteran looking for a MLE contract. Hopefully that player can post up
  20. chris duhon has overstayed his welcome

  22. okay, the game has been forfeited. malik allen is in
  23. the difference between a team of 8-15 year veterans vs. a team of 2-3 year young guys is glaring
