  1. that is all sorts of awesome. Skiles? SCOTT SKILES? Skiles would be a great hire. due to what? He's a very good X & O guy. He's got deep ties to the Midwest. He's coming off a successful stint for one of the NBA's marquee jobs. He's from Indiana and won a state championship. His NBA pedigree would get him respect among recruits, his Indiana background would get him respect among HS coaches. He lives/lived in Bloomington. As a hard-nosed, disciplinarian, Skiles was meant to coach college. I seriously doubt this happens as it would require creativity and foresight, both of which IU's administration has lacked. i think "hard-nosed, coaches the right way" is as overrated in college coaches as it is in short stops, but that's just me Well, you can certainly be successful many different ways. However, it is much harder to be successful in the NBA with that style; that was my point. Regardless, IU's fan base has been begging for a "hard-nosed, coaches the right way" leader for eight years. i think IU fans just want a winner. if Mike Davis had won 20 games a year he'd still be there

  4. it's because Wrigley has the nicest looking background for highlights. seriously.

  6. TT's numbers aren't number of times they reached base, it's the number of times they got into scoring position. Oh, and there is NO BETTER OUTCOME to a plate appearance than a HR. NONE. so Soriano leading off with a HR is better than Roberts getting on with a walk/single EVERY SINGLE TIME
  7. did anyone PM Rocket?
  8. rotation # is almost as overrated as "leadoff hitter". who cares? the numbers never lineup during the season. it would only matter if your #1 always faced the other team's #1, which they don't outside of opening day.
  9. i would also rather have Soriano lead off a game with a HR than Roberts lead off with a walk.
  10. why does one or the other have to be better? they're different players. because Williams is from Illinois DUH no, he's not. he's from texas. yeah, thanks. U. of Illinois. you knew that, but you wanted to be difficult. i understand no problem. but i wasn't being difficult. deron went to the u of i but i never said that he was better than paul. no, but illiniguy did. and he isn't exactly unbiased in his opinions of things
  11. who cares whether Soriano scores them or drives them in? and why are the only choices with him batting #1 or #5? What we should all be more concerned with is Theriot batting anywhere but #8 (or, preferably, being on the bench). Theriot batting 2nd is far more damaging than Soriano leading off

  14. You can't compare basketball and baseball. i just did. oh, and the dunk contest was insane Well, OK, you can. But that doesn't make it logical. A point guard in basketball just might have a bit more influence on a game than a baseball shortstop. Just maybe. but it's a team sport. you can lead the league in scoring individually but be on a last place team. that doesn't make you a worse player than a guy scoring half as much but being on a winning team.
  15. you could have IGNORED it
  16. someone tell the brewers that they can't have Braun and Fielder BOTH play DH every day

  18. Ryan Theriot is a better SS than Hanley Ramirez because his team has a better record
  19. Taylor Battle drove the lane into traffic and as he went up, the ball went flying. it was tough to say from the replay if he lost the ball on his own or if he got fouled, but at real speed, the call HAD to be made. Which begs the question why the hell would trent be in there on defense? He couldn't guard me. the game was a coin flip. it came down to free throws, and PSU went 14/18 while UofI went 5/10. seems to be a trend with the Illini (though PSU lost a game or two due to poor FT shooting as well)
  20. IU is beating the piss out of MSU, even without DJ White
  21. same can be said for the NLDS vs. the Braves, and they Braves have fans all over the south

  23. STEP 1: Extort city for millions STEP 2: Have great surge in attendance year one STEP 3: Continue to field lousy team STEP 4: See attendance shrink to pre-stadium levels STEP 5: PROFIT! [c] Pittsburgh Pirates
  24. i got players #3 and #9 in the first 2 rounds of the NSBB Keeper League. Kudos to me I guess
