  1. throwing hard isn't the dispute. throwing hard with movement and control is. i'm sure there are thousands and thousands of people in America who could throw a ball 90mph, but can they locate it? is it straight? that's my point
  2. Brian Roberts
  3. LB Sean Lee has torn his ACL in spring practices and is out for the year for Penn State :banghead: ](*,) :banghead: ](*,) :banghead: ](*,) :banghead: ](*,) :banghead:
  4. He will be, trust me. A couple of yrs back, when he was called up from I believe Bakersfield to Montgomery, his arrival essentially led the Biscuits to the first of two AA Championships. A great comp for Longoria, would be Ryan Braun. Won't be AS good offensively (won't be signifiicantly worse with the bat), but will be significantly better defensively then Braun. Since the Rays AA team moved from Orlando to Montgomery, I thought there's been one better 3rd base prospect then Longoria, and that was Andy Marte. And yes I still believe Marte will be one heck of a 3rd baseman. he moved from Short-A to AA in about a month and a half. I missed seeing him play for (I think) Hudson Valley in the NYPL (I also missed Josh Hamilton on his short stay in Short-A post-rehab).
  5. Jeff has only touched his potential and it'd be unwise of you to think that at worst, he'll only be a "serviceable" Major Leaguer. You can chalk it up to Jeff's football background but he's the hardest working Minor Leaguer out there, including position players. Combine his work ethic and mental make up with his raw abilities and I wouldn't put anything past Jeff. I wouldn't ride him off because of his K/9. This is a big year for Jeff no doubt. sharkfan50 = Jeff Smardzija
  6. shouldn't have started Lilly again today
  7. it wouldn't be awesome, because that fatty would be peeing his pants when people throw him 98 mph fastballs and sliders that break 15 inches
  8. still a better home run call than Chris Berman
  9. Some Player Perspective Also This

  11. shortest game thread of the year already.
  12. reason #9 makes my brain hurt
  13. when is he expected to start? i have him on my fantasy team too
  14. this is going to be a weird lineup. you can rest Fukudome, but you can't increase the # of righties in the lineup, as Ward and Fontenot and Pie are your main bench guys right now. Only thing I can thing of is something like this (shudder): 1. Soriano LF 2. Johnson CF 3. Lee 1B 4. Ramirez 3B 5. DeRosa RF 6. Soto C 7. Theriot SS 8. Cedeno 2B
  15. Cubs run their own ticket broker store that sells their own tickets for over market value. they also have the CPD shoo away any scalpers away from within 2 blocks of Wrigley so the common fan won't cut into their profits
  16. Kosuke seems to be having problems with breaking stuff down and in
  17. you're pulling a Raisin here, Truffle
  18. sean marshall is not helping his standing in this organization
  19. can we get someone in the two-hole who can get on base please
