  1. So that's your criteria for the Hall of Fame? Mickey Tettleton walked a lot and Dave Kingman had a lot of power. Let's put them in! He's not saying that walking or hitting for power are the only criteria, but that there are standards for those that need to be met to be HOF-worthy. Ozzie Smith is in almost entirely for his defense. Ichiro has gold glove defense AND hits for a high average. I'm not sure why one would think he's overrated unless you insist that your corner OF's are 40 HR players
  2. that would have been the worst "MVP" performance in ASG history
  3. So best record is fair, now? The Celtics beat up on the weak Eastern Conference this year and got home court in the NBA finals. Same could happen every year in baseball. Why not use league vs. league interleague record? This way the stronger league gets HFA. The AL is clearly a better league this year and interleague proved it. Let them have HFA. would that be the same Boston Celtics team that went 25-5 against the West last year? yeah, don't let facts get in the way of your arguments I think the point is a valid one though. Imaginary good team X when put in the NL West could go 100-62 and get the best record. Imaginary good team X when put in the AL Esst could go 92-70 and get the 2nd or third best record. Same team, but the schedule surely plays a huge part. I assume your hypothetical here is that the NL West is weaker than the AL East. Okay, but what if the 100 win NL West team was just .500 against their own division but the 92 win AL East team dominated their division? This isn't so black and white as you're trying to make it that said, even using best record with unequal schedules is a more "fair" way of determining HFA than a frigging All Star Game
  4. it feels good to be right, doesn't it
  5. thank god you're here
  6. what the media should be doing is chastising him for his irresponsible past. that would be a much better example for the kids. "If you ever do drugs, you will be subject to scorn for life!"
  7. stats you know better than to use stuff like EqA with wrigley23.
  8. career .297 EqA....what a bum!
  9. There has to be a rule added that says any starter who pitched on Sunday either can't pitch in the ASG or is on a strict pitch count. Someone's season is going to get ruined by this nonsense

  11. When the Cubs sweep the WS, they'll win at home. What's wrong with that?
  12. yep, safe. the one call the umps got right
  13. i feel sorry for these players. they're supposed to be on a break, but now they're playing a gazillion innings of high-intensity baseball for a game that by all rights shouldn't mean a thing
  14. Lidge is not so great in high-profile, late inning situations
  15. McCarver: "Expect Kinsler to bunt" Kinsler: Swings for fences
  16. the AL will win now and let Selig off the hook with this stupid HFA nonsense
  17. 1-2-3 inning please followed by a hid-def, close up on Bud Selig
  18. if this game didn't "count", it would have ended 4 innings ago
  19. okay, it doesn't help that they're all swinging for the fences now
