  1. ESPN always likes one idiot on their studio panel to say stupid stuff. Holtz is the John Kruk of College Gameday
  2. Lee, Soriano and Ramirez need to figure out how to lay off that change up low and outside. If they flail away at that pitch, it'll be a long night
  3. that goes for about 5 seconds longer than it should which is why it's awesome
  4. the 2001 Mariners run differential was around +300. Insane, but that's how you win 117 games
  5. I still get nothing but audio. Just a blank white space where the video window should be
  6. Pat Hughes credits his radio abilities to the fact that he did years of broadcasting in the minor leagues with no color man. When you have to fill 3 hours of airtime on your own, I think it makes you a better pbp guy
  7. Actually, (and I can still say this for at least 8 more weeks) we've won the World Series more recently that you have. liar You mean the 8 more weeks part? almost every team in the league has won since the Cubs have. that particular jab doesn't carry much weight with Cubs fans anymore
  8. apparently they've had eating contests every since
  9. all i'm getting is audio for some reason
  10. Japanese (I think) tribute to the Olympics
  11. http://a550.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/46/m_5886f43115bc1e34632feb7eed3756f5.jpg
  12. nice win, and nice to get it in before the rain
  13. Thanks to last night's game, Soto's projected RBI total jumped from 94 to 97. 100 RBI from a) the catcher who b) always hit in the bottom half of the lineup would be seven kinds of awesome
  14. I expect absolute quiet, cavier, and a snifter of fine brandy. of course you react to the game when you watch, but not once this year have I watched a game and thought "that's it, the season is over" over one play. In fact, I pretty much expect them to win every game they play now, which is a welcome change over the past 15 or so years of watching the team.
  15. already being discussed in Social
  16. it's pretty telling that I voted for 5 cubs
  17. In retrospect, yes. I had to laugh when PSU played Michigan last year and the announcers were going on about how Chad Henne was originally going to go to PSU (and Morelli to Pitt) and how Paterno could have had this great starting QB for four years. What they failed to realize was that Paterno would never have started Henne as a freshman (like UM did) and that he'd be on the bench until his senior year.
  18. Soto was more walks than K's in August
  19. for once, I'll agree with you. It's the greatest Cubs season in my 16 years of being a fan, and yet this board is the least fun it's been since I joined. Why is a historically great Cubs game turning everyone into a-holes?
  20. Hillary Clinton made me miss the comeback.
  21. this was the first time I did fantasy baseball in a long time so I made a bunch of bad picks. I also got some good players late (Longoria, McClouth) so I guess I'd rate my effort a C+.
  22. Cubs' record with 30 games to go: 2008: 82-50 2007: 68-64 2003: 68-64 1998: 71-61 1989: 75-57 1984: 79-53
  23. Super Cubs offense getting killed by a Cobs-like pitching performance tonight
  24. Len/Bob's reaction to it was priceless
