  1. This is what I'm wondering. Perhaps they emailed some Chicago newspaper columnists or Cub officials who gave Scoop the scoop ( ). I'm not reading the article, reading that quote alone depresses me enough.
  2. Here's an interesting article about the Blackhawks It talks about how McDonough and Rocky Wirtz have helped turn the franchise around and energize the city for hockey once again.

    Cobs

    This word summarizes our postseason
  5. I'm in favor of simply making the DS a seven game series, and then leaving it how it is. Yeah, I'm only saying this because the Cubs lost this year, but it can really use improving. The Cubs and now the Angels seasons are about to be ended in a matter of 3 games.

  7. "2009: The year of the LolCubs"
  8. "It's gonna happen! Go Cubs Go! Next year is here!", etc. You know, as a Cubs fan, I'm used to this drivel, and I accept it as part of my Cubfandom. It's just something that we'll hear a lot every year until they win a World Series. Every team looks to next year after losing, it's just that this line's been associated with the Cubs by the media.
  9. I'm not even sure it takes a month. I'm letting the frustration out tonight, and tomorrow life goes on.Agreed. I'm actually almost over it, not quite yet. I think I realized in the second inning of game 2 that the Cubs were on a fast track to doom, and I guess I started going through the motions. Sports move so fast, I can't sulk that much. The only time I really sulked for a long time was after the Illinois '04-'05 season, and that was because a season like that may never happen again in my lifetime for any team. Otherwise, there's always next year. It's gonna happen! Go Cubs Go!, etc. :oldbluekoolaid:
  10. Most people aren't there yet, moving on to next year and looking back at this year as a good thing. I'm not over it, not at all, but I am drinking the blue Kool-Aid. I guess you could say I'm in denial, and I'm just looking back as this year as a great, awesome, successful year, but I guess that's just me. Really, I just want to forget the last three games, and this is the best way, IMO. Go Cubs, we'll be back at it in 09, I hope. 9/14 - No hitter by Z
  11. Some random thoughts of mine regarding 09. Soriano's contract is epicly bad for us now, and we'll see a steeper decline next year. Is there any team, anybody, that's desperate enough to take him? Maybe if the Cubs pay a fraction of his contract, and if we wait until years 5-8, the fraction we'll have to pay will be much higher. I'd like to see Ward gone next year. Hopefully, Hoff can take his spot. Not much else to talk about right now, hours after the season ends.
  12. Fans aren't in the mood? I'm in more of the mood than ever, because I want to forget about the last 3 games. Of course, maybe some people just want to forget about it all together. But this was a great year, that ended in disappointment, and I'm proud of the team, not those imposters that showed up in October. :oldbluekoolaid:
  13. I thought I'd start this thread, now that the season's over. Post video/audio/pics if available. I'll start. 5/30 Cubs against Rockies - Cubs mount an 8 run comeback. Call by Pat and Ron Click the "Video" tab on the right
  14. I feel the same way. It's like on the 5 stages of grief, and we're at stage 4, depression. I've gone through denial and anger (not bargaining, haha) during the games, and now I'm just sad. What could've been. The Cubs had the best team many of us have seen in our lifetime, and maybe the best we'll ever see, but suddenly when the calendar goes to October, they die like choking dogs. I don't have anything to say positive right now. Back when the Bears lost in 05, I made a big optimistic post on a Bears forum about what they did right and what we have to look forward too, and they turned around, improved, and went to the Super Bowl. Dunno what to say here.
  15. What happened to Leonard part 1-5? what happened to Tarver1? What happened to A? what happened to CaliforniaGrape ?? that is the question. almost as big a one as where in the world is boybearcub i got nothing. what happened to ICB! ? =D> Hmm. MattCassell? Trying to think of benchwarming QBs.
  16. Booo
  17. I'm feeling a HR here, first pitch, off Broxton, and he'll melt down from there. That's the optimist in me.
  18. Have any of you read the book "Baseball Bloopers"? It documents funny errors in baseball histories. This series is sure to add some.
  19. When 2 runs score with 3 outs having already been made, yes, we're going to get pissed at the umps. Get pissed at the crap offense, not the umps. There was no concrete evidence that the tag was applied before he got to the bag. Meanwhile, Edmonds and Derosa with worm killers in the infield. This team is choking, period! Well the ball beat him. The Cubs continue to be the only team in the majors that doesn't consistently get that call. And he was out. The thing that sucks about this is that no one outside of us will remember how good this team was for six months if we lose this game or series. They'll just remember the crappy October games I won't remember. Actually, I will, but I'll only think of the disappointing last 3-5 games in October. I'm just irrational like that, but it's hard to think of the good things in the regular season when the team craps the bed like this in the postseason.
  20. Soapdrop this. Why is this happening suddenly as soon as the playoffs start? I'm just...lost for words. Once the playoffs started, this time inexplicably changed into a bunch of hapless chumps. I don't get it.
