  1. Yup, it is pretty obvious that this is the best play-off rotation. I agree as well. Zambrano's been shaky and Harden may only go 5 innings, so Dempster is the smart choice to start twice. If everything goes right, we can expect 7 IP, 2 R for each start or so. Plus, as mentioned before, if Demp struggles in a potential game 5, we'll have someone [Harden] to go all out for a couple innings.
  2. Ha, it seems like a NSBB party will be going on if the series goes to 5. Unfortuanately, I can't go up to Chicago and make at least one game this year :( . I wish the Braves were in the playoffs again so I could go to a game in Atlanta.
  3. Where is that from? I'm assuming that one or two of the smarter posters on whatever forum that is jumped all over that. http://www.metsrefugees.com, it's probably the largest Mets community I can find, but the quality of posting is rather poor. It is like the "dodger blues" board for the Mets. Haha, I remember Dodger Blues. I just went there, and it's hilariously bad. There's a thread called "Dodgers collapse thread", and people are saying "The Dodgers will go into F**town [san Fran] and will get swept. [san Fransisco] will celebrate like a cure for AIDS has been found." They're so immature, it's ridiculous. Same thing with that Mets forum. Another Mets forum that's more controlled is mets.scout.com. I've never actually read more than a couple posts on the game thread, but at least it's not as cluttered and profane.
  4. Wait, I thought Howry was the word we used for, err, feces? Anyways, that's a pretty sweet cover. I'll be sure to pick this issue up soon. BTW, I've had this post I'm typing open for about 3 hours. I got sidetracked, I guess. :)
  5. Nice win. I feel sorry for Met fans though. For two straight years, their heart gets ripped out. They thought they solved it by getting Johan and then later canning Willie Randolph, but nope, same old same old.
  6. http://limos.infopop.cc/groupee_files/attachments/8/5/0/8501019521/8501019521_UPSGirl.jpg?ts=48DB00B3&key=29B2C4CCE1F20058962775A8B611FA09&referrer=http%3A%2F%2Flimos.infopop.cc%2Feve%2Fforums%2Fa%2Fga%2Ful%2F4781066821%2Finlineimg%2FY%2FUPSGirl.jpg Delivered!
  7. Haha, yes! You know, I kinda feel bad for Mets fans. They're just letting their playoff chances slip away after every blunder, for the second straight year.
  8. Welcome to the forums. :hello:
  9. Dammit, it's "dammit", not "damnit". Nothing personal, I just keep seeing this pop up on the board and it's mildly annoying. Correction. It's spelled "dagnamit". 8-)
  10. So you basically divided the season into fractions of 5 games, looking to see how good we did in those 5 game spans? Cool. It seems like most of these are either "Won 4" or "Lost 3", which makes sense, because that would be 6/10, and our winning % is pretty close to that (.609 as of 9/24).
  11. http://www.tauzero.com/Rob_Tow/pix/Robot-Pix/RobotScowl.jpg Anyway, I'd like to see the Mets miss out again this year, not because of payback for 1969, but I just don't like them. But my brain tells me the Brewers are better than the Mets, so go NY I guess.
  12. I feel like this as well, but only when I don't have class that day. On weekends or days off, I like day games, but I have school next week, so, not so good. At least I'll only miss at most an hour of Games 1 and 2 if we play NY. I feel sorry for some of you guys in the Midwest or, even worse, the West Coast. :(
  13. TV stations control everything. Nah, in the league that wins the ASG, the team with the best record chooses between schedule A or B. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080912&content_id=3461424&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb
  14. This doesn't make much sense to me. Who would you rather face other than a tired CC, a hurt Sheets, and a recovering Gallardo? We've beaten the Crew 6 of 7 games recently, right? I'd rather face the Mets, personally, but I wouldn't tank just to get them in. I think both teams are about even, but the Brewers are slightly better. But really, I think the Cubs can beat either.
  15. http://i35.tinypic.com/ifa5mq.gif Twins will try to get within a half game of the ALC, Dodgers are looking to pull away in their division, and the Brewers hope to tie for the wild card, with some help from us. Looks to be another great day of baseball.
  16. Seems like a lot of people didn't like his announcing either, and I agreed with them. At least his managing is better than his commentating.
  17. White Sox, simply because I want to see a all-Chicago World Series. I don't hate the Sox venomously, so I think that'd be cool.
  18. I don't understand what them missing or making the playoffs has to do with the future. @ both of you: I think the OP is thinking that crushing them in the last series and causing them to miss the playoffs will cost Milwaukee some playoff revenue, and that'll have a long term effect on them being able to resign some of their players. Anyways, I think that I'd rather have them in the playoffs because, as Joker would say, they're "too much fun". I'd like a standoff against the Brewers for the right to go to the World Series. But my brain and more so, my gut, tells me that I don't really want the Cubs to face the Brewers. This choice doesn't really have to do future, just this year. Any future struggles for the Crew would just be gravy.
  19. I believe that only applies in the league that won the All-Star game, in this case the AL.
  20. I don't understand how anybody can justify saying Lilly deserves the 2nd start because he consistently goes 7, when his ERA is over 4, he actually averages barely over 6 innings, he's given up 4 ER and 5 ER in two of his 4 September starts, and you have Rich Harden. Harden has given up 4 ER once as a Cub, and only twice this season. He's thrown 7 innings 4 times as a Cub and is averaging nearly as many innings per outing as Lilly, at 5.9. Essentially, Lilly gets you one more out, on average, per start (actually less as he averages just 0.1 more innings per game). This is just completely illogical. You have off days galore, and bullpens will be rested. If Harden throws in game 2, then there is an off day immediately following. Harden is far and away the team's most effective starter, while Ted Lilly is clearly number 4. This should not even be a discussion. http://forum.ariakon.com/uploads/VeritechSquad/3BE_picard.jpg Why the facepalm? I agree with jersey, although not so much with the first sentence about Ted. He put up a pretty good argument, what do you disagree with?
  21. more scintillating analysis from you're truly YOUR(s), NOT YOU'RE!!!! Anyway, I was for Girardi, but Lou was my second choice. I thought he was a Dusty 2.0, slightly better but still some senile old kook that would give too much playing time to vets and his "horses". Actually, I wasn't against the hiring as much as I just described, I just prefered Joe Girardi. I'm happy to be
