  1. Where have you been? Braun, Fielder, Sabathia and Torres to the Cubs for Wood, Marquis and Samardzija. Happened last inning. Wow, the Cubs made out like bandits in that trade. As long as they could start 2 left fielders and 2 first basemen.
  2. Is it just me, or did Rosenthal say Wood, Marquis, and Shark were on the Brewers?
  3. Damn, we now have "good news": FOX is switching us to Phillies-Nats. :banghead:

  5. Interesting. I hope his shoulder is ok Lou did this last year with Lilly (started him for 2 innings and then had him pitch on "3 days rest" in Game 2), and Lilly looked awful in the playoffs. I love that Lilly went from our number 2 starter to our number 4 starter. And Rich Hill went from our 3rd starter to the Rookie League... And Wood went from 1st starter to Sham Closer. And Prior went from our 2nd starter to...er...the DL
  6. why did they pitch him on short rest? Who else do they have to pitch today? Oliver Perez on 2 days rest? He's the best option at this point. It's a desperation move, but I have to say I agree with it. Manuel said earlier this week that he wouldn't start Johan on short rest, but that was before they were trailing 1 game with 2 games left. Although I would've taken him out at about 85 pitches or so. Yeah, their pen sucks, but he's just going to be completely dead even if they make the postseason.
  7. And singing the 7th inning stretch... root, root root for the suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurp Cubbies I wonder how that'd go over in Milwaukee ;) Sure, but who is gonna boo Darth Vader? No one, out of fear. I mean, you don't mess with someone who carries around something described by Wikipedia as "retractable, brightly colored energy blade about one meter in length able to cut through most matter with little or no resistance and to deflect projectiles and other weapons". You just don't. But don't worry, we'll all be saved by everyone's favorite hero. This guy's on the case! http://www.qctimes.com/blogs/wp-content/uploads/jarjar.jpg
  8. No matter who wins the AL Central, they'll face the Rays.
  9. http://i34.tinypic.com/1t7jma.gif The Phillies clinch the division with a win or NY loss, and the Brewers clinch the wild card with a win and NY loss. The NL playoff race might just sort itself out by Saturday night. Unfortunately, I'll have to watch a meaningless Yankees-Red Sox game down here in North Carolina, but for those of you living in Illinois or Wisconsin, enjoy the Cubs game.
  10. Rays clinched the East with Boston losing today. Congrats Tampa. A year ago, who woulda thunk it? http://tampabay.rays.mlb.com/images/2008/09/27/hlroRWsl.jpg
  11. Boston loses, giving the Rays the AL East. Congrats Tampa.
  12. This was my first game at Wrigley It was the first game after the All-Star break in 05, back when we thought Mark Prior was going to have a bright future in Chicago. The Cubs won 5-1 and Dempster got the save, Prior with the win. His line? 8 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 3 BB, 10 K *sigh* I remember the ride back home the next day, and listening to the game where the Cubs won 11-1 with a great start by Woody to put them over .500. I also remember hanging out around Wrigleyville before the game, and catching a baseball literally seconds after I sat down. We arrived at the stadium, I began to sit, then I saw Murton crush a ball during BP up to my seats, and it landed right in my lap.
  13. So long as Houston doesn't win out, otherwise it gets messy for us as well. If Houston loses one of their next three, then I'm all over both losing out. Hopefully the Phillies lose out as well, causing a three way tie. Then after the play-in games, the Mets and Brewers end up getting into the playoffs. I'm not necessarily scared of any of the NL teams, and I think the Cubs should beat them all, but I'd rather the Phillies not make the playoffs.
  14. http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e274/chicubforlife/Chicago%20Cubs/theriot3.jpg Of course, the man/demigod can't start every position. Or can he? http://media.ign.com/boardfaces/33.gif But, as I stated before, I agree with this choice and think it's a good idea. Dempster will give us the best chance to win, as he's most likely to give us a quality start (both innings and runs).
  15. http://www.theonion.com/content/news_briefs/mets_to_play_brewers_in_one I chuckled. :)
  16. Choke? If the Cubs lose to the Brewers it certainly wouldn't be choking. It's not possible for the Cubs to choke this series. Not technically choking, since we already clinched, but he did the :) so he doesn't really mean "choke" in the real sense.
  17. I know it's an overused cliche, but it's a perfect example of a let down game. USC got pumped for the OSU game, and now for the game against the *other* OSU, they expected an easy win, but the Beavers aren't going down easily. I don't like USC (Illini fan here), so go Beavers! http://i1.iofferphoto.com/img/item/264/111/77/ANGRY_BEAVERS.bmp.jpg
  18. So is it raining heavily? I can't tell, I'm following on GameDay.
  19. http://www.classicmedia.tv/assets/circles/richierich.gif Go Harden!
  20. The Twins lead 1-0 already after an inning. This must be brutal for Sox fans, to see the team across town cruise into the playoffs, while they are seeing their division lead against their rival slip away.
  21. http://i35.tinypic.com/2ir7o9l.gif 6 teams are off today. The Dodgers have already clinched, as Arizona lost earlier today. The Twins try to take the lead in the AL Central, and the Rays have a chance to clinch the AL East with a Red Sox loss.
  22. You want the Cubs to win before game 5. Rooting for this to go to 5 just so you can see the game is kinda like rooting for your fantasy team players over the Cubs. Spoken like someone who didn't get tickets. :P I see your point, but at the same time, I'm going to be selfish and say I want Game Five. Didn't people feel the same way during the 03 playoffs? Now I don't have tickets, but I'd root for it to end, just because I don't want to see the Cubs have to go all the way to 5 games, when they should've swept or taken it in 4.
