    I believe you just have to have played in 10 seasons, be retired for 5 years, and be nominated by a screening committee. I don't even think there's a committee. Everybody who qualifies (10-year career, retired for 5 years) is added to the ballot the year they become eligible. To stay on the ballot beyond the first year the player needs to get some specified percentage of votes (5% sticks in my mind). Yes, definitely no screening committee. You think anyone would actually put Jeff Reboulet on a Hall of Fame ballot? Moustache Hall of Fame, certainly.

    this wont work. hoffpauir is in rf johnson cf, soriano lf, fukudome ss, cajuns 2b. we didnt sign milton bradley. we signed the parker brothers instead I say we slash the payroll, and put it all into research for a futuristic cloning machine, and then have the team be 23 Sotos, Z, and Harden. we better clone a lot more hardens so when one breaks we have another soto can fix broken harden with his mystical healing powers.

    Who said it would be all those guys? A) we dont really know what the package is B) if you choose to believe one of the rumored packages, then you should choose to believe that adding derosa to the package would take out at least one of the other players. i'd bet everyting i owned that they dont trade all 5 of those guys for peavy DeRosa and Marquis+cash is a pretty good start to work around. I dont think they would need more than 2 others.

    Putting aside all the emotional "he is one of the few guys that gets it" crap, you are absolutely right. How often do you get to sell this high on a 34 year old MI? Still depends what else we are giving up.
