  1. i can't wait for reds44 to find this thread and blow up at it.
  2. After watching the Duke-BC game today, Kyle Singler is already much better than Josh McRoberts ever was or ever will be.
  3. Living here in North Carolina, I cannot imagine the backlash the front office in Charlotte would get if they traded Steve Smith, he is the face of the franchise, and trading the face of the franchise is not a good idea for a GM and coach that are on the hot seat a little bit. For my team (Atlanta), I really wish they would have waited to at least interview Spagnuolo. I am not sure what to make of their coaching hire (Mike Smith former Jags defensive coordinator), although I really like the hire of Thomas Dimitroff as GM, he was on of the scouts for the Patriots. I really hope they do not draft a QB in the first round, especially if it's Matt Ryan.
  4. His personal doctor is now saying that he will not be able to pitch again without the surgery
  5. Keep hoping. Votto for Blanton? Sure. Anything more? No way Why would the A's trade Blanton for one of Cincy's bench players? And it's not like Oakland is short on first basemen. Joey Votto is a bench player for us? That's news to me. He is when Dusty is your manager
  6. In response to your earlier question, yes, I'm a huge UNC fan. In response to this quotation, people actually bet against Duke in this game? Much as it pains me to admit it, Duke is probably a better team than UNC WITH Ty Lawson, at least until UNC starts playing some defense. Without him, I'm surprised we were only down by five with a minute and a half or so to go. Actually, believe it or not, I'm encouraged by this game. It always sucks to lose to Duke, but it seems pretty clear to me that if Ty Lawson had been running the point rather than Quentin Thomas (who really shouldn't be running the show), we would have won. I don't know if we'll win in Cameron, but I still like our chances. I thought Quentin Thomas played fairly well yesterday, but I agree that Lawson would have been much better. The thing that would help the most, IMO, with Lawson coming back is taking some of the defensive attention away from Ellington and Green.
  7. Stop exciting me when I get home from school with all these new pages.
  8. 89-78 can't wait to cash in on all my bets with friends and teachers.
  9. All this means is that when Carolina loses to Duke tomorrow, I'll have an excuse. I agree with you that Lawson is the engine that makes the team go. I love watching him play. You a UNC fan?
  10. Get home from school see 6 more pages think tht something happened, but only a smiley war.
  11. Corey Patterson? I know he can't hit lefties so chill out
  12. It was a very poor draft pick. Off topic, but hell this whole thread is. Where does your user name come from?
  13. I remember that game so vividly, I was winning by 5 points going into Monday night for my fantasy game. I only had Rex Grossman, he had no players left. So I can safely expect to win, right? Wrong He scores -6 points so I lose by 1 point and miss the playoffs by 1 game to the guy that beat me in that game.
  14. Lawson is doubtful for the Duke game, won't know for sure until game time, with a pretty good idea after practice tomorrow.
  15. Duke did fairly well considering the coaching change and the one-win season, 60ish in the nation I think.
  16. Your going to regret messing with the pixie dust at teh end of the year.
  17. Wise idea, but after Patterson, if Pie fails, I think they almost have to make a trade for someone who is more likely to hit -- Fuld is the all-glove, no-hit defensive CF. So I think Colvin is blocked, either by Pie or by failure of young CFs. You could even argue that Vitters and Donaldson, from the BA top 20, are blocked, by Ramirez and Soto. though I realize saying Donaldson is blocked by Soto is presumptious and exactly what Craig is cautioning against with Colvin. PTBNL is one way around that, Of course, then basically every position player is the minors is blocked. If they can make informed decisions on some of the arms, they could move the high minor league position players to fill holes in the majors, then see about moving the less talented arms in the high minors to fill-in gaps in the lower minors -- but trading prospects for prospects isn't all that common. Pitching aside, the need for replacements for the Major League roster is really three or four years away, right? Maybe they should load up on high schoolers this summer. That is a ridiculous reason for why a prospect is blocked.
  18. I'll probably watch a bit of a couple ST games on WGN this year. I think I remember that WGN showed some spring training games, I might be wrong.
  19. what a surprise :stickman: :stickman: :stickman: :stickman: yes it was a lame excuse to try out the dancing stickman
  20. To go along with OMC's thread of players that are locks for the Hall of Fame if they stopped this season or next. Which players (with at least a season or two of major league experience) do you see having at least an 85% of making the HOF after they are done?
