  1. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3128280&campaign=rss&source=MLBHeadlines If I'm reading this correctly he has a $4.2M base salary and $3.45M in potential bonuses? Doesn't that seem kinda steep for a reliever who's a really bad health risk? Assuming the bonuses are for saves and games finished he should get $7.65M if he can grab the closer slot and stay healthy. Still seems pricy to me. I know he had a nice finish last year but there seems to be a pervasive excess of optimism regarding Kerry's health situation. If he earns the bonuses them it probably means that he was healhty for the most part in 2008. I don't much like to see big money spent on a closer, even the "proven" ones. Kerry is not proven. He has proven the he can be a dominant pitcher when healhty. It will only be big money if he is healhty. Him as a "closer" is irrevlant.

  3. wow..I find that really creepy that you know him...or maybe it's just ironic...don't ya think.
  4. Yeah, and I'd take ARod at 5/50 million. Can you give Hendry any credit? and at this point we don't know which side wanted only the 1 year. Given the market this offseason for relievers, its possible that Kerry could pitch an entire season in 07(and at a high level) from pen, and command a much bigger deal next offseason.
  5. I would think no. I get the impression Lou wasn't keen on having 3 lefties in the rotation, always worrying about going with a lefty back to back. I think he wants a righty, and Dempster fits that bill in the short-term. I believe Marshall is likely on the block, and they will wait and see if Dempster can build up his value by pitching well in the first half, and if they can get something out of Gallagher, Prior or others by then. From a leverage prespective(the value of Sean Marshall), wouldn't it have made more sense to trade Marshall before announcing Dempster to the rotation?
  6. For RF or CF? If it's CF the Cubs still need (according to Jim) a left bat for RF. Jim is an idiot. Let Pie roll in CF. He has nothign to prove in the minors. Stick Fukudome and the 380+ OBP in right and your solid. Maybe trade for Tejada too.
  7. Anyways....looks like that 4 million extra went to Kerry Wood, so I guess we will have to can the Matsui idea. So lets go get Fukudome and call it an offseason. What you say Jim?
  8. Hendry insisted on 6, but Kerry adviced him that 5 might be a more reasonable offer.
  9. ha...the Twins will never enter the realm of Royals, D-Rays, Pirates.
  10. Doesn't Iwamura play third? I'm sure he could play 2nd.
  11. yep. I think he mentioned before he felt he owed somethign to the Cubs since he really never lived up to his first contract, but thats hogwash. He is entitled to whatever he is offered on the open market.
  12. awesome news. He could have got more money/years elsehwere. I appreciate his loyalty to this team.
  13. I wouldn't hate him so much if he didn't get off so easy in Chicago. Pretty much no one in the media is going after him, and from what I read on various MB's, most poeple still love the guy too.
  14. Yes. Tank the season..draft Derrick Rose. Of course it won't happen with Paxson committed to his failed creation backcourt of Hinrich and Gordon. God, I freakin HATE John Paxson. Skiles too.
  15. I like a nice pair of [expletive].
  16. Honeymoon's over for Paxson and Skiles, get these 2 assclowns out of Chicago.
  17. Yeah, that's not true. Of course it is.
  18. The bottom line is that the Cubs could make their entire minor league system available to the Marlins, and it still wouldn't be enough to get Cabrera.
  19. . Maybe ya been too busy chasing Matsui ya dope!
  20. Think about it. Torii Hunter is going to get 6 years and $90M (if the rumor is true). It makes Jacque Jones' 3 year deal for $16M a few years back look almost reasonable. And it makes Mr. Reinsdorf look like a pud for wasting this dough on a baseball team that is going nowhere fast, yet refusing to pay the luxury on tax on his basketball team that is a superstar away from the finals.
  21. hey screw you Reinsdorf you should be saving that money for Kobe Bryant.
