There was "plenty" of pathetic to go around during McPhails tenure here.. 1997 67 wins 2000 65 wins 2002 67 wins 2006 67 wins During this time period the Cubs failed to produce any signicant position players from their minor league system, and were never a player any major FA. The only large contract was the Sosa extension. MacPhail refused to authorize $$$ to fix the minor league shortcomings. His tenure was nothing short of a disgrace.
It's probably the same m.o. behind Haren being shopped. If we offer something impressive, he'll deal him. So...what would a fair deal for Swisher be? It seems we're shopping Prior. So...how about like Prior/Gallagher/Colvin for Swisher? I'd do that in a second........it would be great to dump Colvin before people realize he isn't any good.
When my first son is born, I will teach him to bat LH, and play every position in baseball..and so help me, if Jim Hendry is still a GM in baseball...my son will have a shot at the big leagues!
Jim doesn't sign d-bags, he signs guys who are bad at baseball. Too bad. I guess I need to ditch my fantasy about playing for the Cubs, because even if I was great at baseball..Jim wouldn't sign me.
If I was Murton(or another young Cubs position player), I would try and become a switch hitter. You don't have to be good at it...but just the fact that you can bat from the other side of the plate...will make Jim "Ga Ga" over you.
I always thought it was strange how they blocked Milledge with guys like Shawn Green. And now they sell him, when his value is at the lowest, during an offseason where overpriced CF's are cashing in everywhere. I'm perplexed.
