  1. There was "plenty" of pathetic to go around during McPhails tenure here.. 1997 67 wins 2000 65 wins 2002 67 wins 2006 67 wins During this time period the Cubs failed to produce any signicant position players from their minor league system, and were never a player any major FA. The only large contract was the Sosa extension. MacPhail refused to authorize $$$ to fix the minor league shortcomings. His tenure was nothing short of a disgrace.
  2. It's probably the same m.o. behind Haren being shopped. If we offer something impressive, he'll deal him. So...what would a fair deal for Swisher be? It seems we're shopping Prior. So...how about like Prior/Gallagher/Colvin for Swisher? I'd do that in a second........it would be great to dump Colvin before people realize he isn't any good.
  3. Theriot is such a tough out because he just looks some damn gritty when he makes an out.
  4. I think the two are mutually exclusive events. The Cubs want to trade Prior. The Cubs also want to aquire Swisher.
  5. I don't see Beane parting with Swisher.
  6. With Blalock its always the question...are you getting the guy from 03-04 & 07, or the guy in 05 & 06
  7. wow..I didn't realize what an on base machine Quentin was in the minors..I'm jealous.
  8. Cedeno doesn't bat LH, and doesn't play every position, so I don't see what value he has to this organization.
  9. When my first son is born, I will teach him to bat LH, and play every position in baseball..and so help me, if Jim Hendry is still a GM in baseball...my son will have a shot at the big leagues!
  10. 2 years for 32 actually isn't that bad of deal..in this market of course.
  11. Jim doesn't sign d-bags, he signs guys who are bad at baseball. Too bad. I guess I need to ditch my fantasy about playing for the Cubs, because even if I was great at baseball..Jim wouldn't sign me.
  12. That is the dumbest thing I have heard since.."Even if you are successfull running the football..the other team will stop it eventually"
  13. Why are not we going after a guy likes Dukes. I really don't care if he is a scumbag..I just want to win baseball games.
  14. I'm fairly certain MacPhail will keep them wildly pathetic .
  15. Murton below average?!??!?!?!?! THAT AINT TRUE http://a.abcnews.com/images/WNT/abc_wn_webcast_football_070924_ms.jpg
  16. Bedard for Prior str8 up. :)
  17. If I was Murton(or another young Cubs position player), I would try and become a switch hitter. You don't have to be good at it...but just the fact that you can bat from the other side of the plate...will make Jim "Ga Ga" over you.
  18. I'd take a flyer on him. Wonder if he could hack it at either of the corner OF spots? Maybe nice utility player off the bench? I'm Ron Burgundy?
  19. They panicked, and decided to trade Milledge for an older, less althletic version of himself.
  20. I always thought it was strange how they blocked Milledge with guys like Shawn Green. And now they sell him, when his value is at the lowest, during an offseason where overpriced CF's are cashing in everywhere. I'm perplexed.
  21. A year ago at this time, I wonder what the Mets could have got for Milledge? Buy high, sell low. Make sense to me.
  22. Between Wily Mo, and now Milledge..Bowden has aquired alot of potential in the OF, at little cost.
  23. At the worst Milledge will put up Church #'s probably. As for Scheider, that's what I call subraction by addition.
