  1. Also a pretty big week for IU recruiting. James Blackmon is visiting this weekend and apparently Jaquan Lyle is as well. I still think Blackmon is headed to UK and this is just a courtesy visit, but I guess it is better than no visit at all. Lyle popping up back on the radar has been a bit of a surprise, curious to see what happens there. Devin Robinson, a 5 star from Virginia is announcing on Wednesday. His final 4 are IU, ND, Florida, and Oklahoma State. He is from the same town as fellow 2014 recruit Robert Johnson.
  2. IU should fall into that weird year category as well. I Have no idea who is going to score.
  3. Illini up 47-39 at half. That lead will most likely expand in 2nd half.
  4. My nephew plays for McKendree, they are playing against Illinois in Champaign tonight. Just reveived a text that it was tied at 35-35. Really? McKendree is a D2 school that finished last in their conference last season. Means nothing I realize, but McKendree was awful last year.
  5. I can't imagine they'd let you come early. I'd think you could come on 12/6 whenever, or if you have someone in the area, you can send a proxy. That's what I figure. I don't want to be "that guy" and ask for it. I was just curious. I'm not upgrading my price level, but am interested in what else is available. Since I sell the majority of them, I just feel more comfortable personally picking them out.
  6. I am on 12/5 at 4pm. I am considering flying in for the day from Louisville, but the flight times don't really cooperate. There is a flight leaving Midway at 6pm, but I couldn't realistically make that. Wonder if there is any chance of them letting me come an hour or so early. Or do you think that would piss people off?
  7. Anybody receive an invoice for 2014 today? Thought they were supposed to be emailed today, but I didn't receive one yet.
  8. I would be beyond ecstatic with that kind of high end projection.
  9. Almora just hit a HR
  10. Julius Thomas trade already paying dividends!
  11. Curious to what some of the other IU fans think, but my hopes aren't very high for this season. For the past two seasons they have been a tremendously efficient offensive team, that won't be the case this year. Outside shooting is at best questionable, at worst, bad. I think Vonleh is going to be a good player, Ferrell will be solid but will have to pick up the offensive game. Sheehey is great as your 5th/6th man, but I am hesitant to picture what he is going to be as one of the main options. The non-con schedule is pretty soft, at least at home. Play Washington and maybe Uconn in preseason tourney, go to Syracuse, ND in Indianapolis. I'll say 5th place Big 10. 5-7 NCAA seed.
  12. No way he's forcing kids out with 2 open scholarships this year and 3 for 14' / 15'. Marcius moved on because he wants to start somewhere to try to prove himself for a playing career in Europe. Hale never added the weight and wasn't physical enough to be a B1G player. Lawson was a freak athlete but fouled everything that moved and had no polish on the offensive end. Anthony Johnson, I don't know what happened there, he was getting minutes but never developed accuracy on his outside shooting. He had mental lapses and would just drive to the hoop and throw up tear drop shots. He was probably tired of Painter screaming at him for not making adjustments. AJ claims he moved to be closer to his sick grandma. 2009 - 2011 were abysmal recruiting years with the exceptions of DJ Byrd who was a really good role player and Terone Johnson who is a senior captain this year. All that being said, Painter (depending on the recruiting service) brought in 4 4-star players in 2012 and 3 more this year. He's got more 4 star players on the roster this year than ever before. He's also got a solid class of guys that fit his system in 2014. He's obviously trying to land a 5 star player but if he can continue to land 4 stars regularly they'll be fine. Purdue has never been a 5 star player school. He just has to avoid terrible stretches like 2009-2011. I thought Hale was a reach to begin with for any BCS conference school. Saw him all the time in high school, not surprised to see him moving on. How dare anyone suggest these guys were forced out. That only happens in Bloomington, everybody knows that.
  13. Yep, pretty much sunk my week before the weekend even began.
  14. C draft grade...whatever. For 30 minutes notice, I'll take it!
  15. I'm in...Chemo Warriors
  16. Looks more like a leg/knee, not a concussion.
  17. I can't remember where I read it, but one of those insider-ish dudes somewhere on the internet said the Cubs promoted Baez in part to try to get him to a level where his talent couldn't overcome his flaws. I'm beginning to wonder if such a level exists. This past weekend at the Baseball Prospectus event in Cincinnati, Jason Parks spoke quite a bit about this theory. It wasn't in reference to Baez, but just in general concerning team philosophies on promotions. Went in to detail about how stats can often hide major flaws. Fans see the stats and clamor for promotions, etc. He said the best way to reach a prospect is put them in a difficult position. Often times it is only then that they start to really adapt their game. Not that they were intentionally not listening before, but nothing gets a prospects attention more than failure.
  18. I just realized that a few hundred dollars of my return was due to some NCAA Regional tickets I was able to sell. So that 70% is not all Cubs tickets. Where are your seats? Mine are in Section 202. Hoping to have a decent August, but it has been slow lately. I doubt I'll have much luck in September.
  19. Holy Hell, how did you pull that off? I'm impressed/jealous. I'm not really sure to be honest with you. Stubhub has been my main outlet, but not getting face value for the vast majority of those games. I typically end up pricing them near, or at the lowest price for my section. I have only had three games that I haven't sold. Having said that, some games may sell for 40-50% of combined face value. I try to just tell myself it is better than nothing. I was in town for one of the games against the Angels and tried selling a few games to the scampers outside by the El. They didn't really want go give me anything, and these were for Cardinals games. One guy offered me $30 total for the Thursday and Sunday game against the Cardinals. They both ended up selling on Stubhub for close to face value. I have sold a handful of games to some trusting people on Craigslist for face value earlier in the year.
  20. That is quite a jump. I have to imagine many people chose not to buy last offseason when their names were called. It was a tough decision for me, but I decided to give it a shot. I have been to two games, that is it. That is more due to me not living in the Chicago area though. I have made back about 70% of my investment. Not sure how others are doing, but I was fearful that I wouldn't even get that much back. Fingers crossed the team improves and at bare minimum I start breaking even by 2015.
  21. Oh, I remember that all too well. What can I say? Never believed in him. Wish he wouldn't have fallen as far as he did though. Hard for a 2 pitch ( no one pitch Rich jokes) starter to make it, especially when the FB wasn't overpowering. Never could develop anything else.
  22. Law's disgust of Lake reminds me of how mine used to be for Rich Hill.
