  1. They are terrible at this. But Hey, didn't you know a strikeout is just another out. Who cares about strikeouts. Make freakin contact.. :?
  2. I had surgery for a frayed Labrum the summer before my junior year in college. I did pitch, and even though the damage wasn't significant, it hurt like hell all throughout my shoulder everytime I threw the ball. I did have the arthroscopic surgery and it took me a while to get back to normal. Lots of therapy. Its a "good" injury in the sense that its an easy fix. My rotator cuff was fine, they just had to clean up the labrum. But that said, it was painful and took some recovery time. I was in therapy through December.

  4. Yeah, I'd hate to see a perrenial playoff contender. It would get so boring watching a winning team. Yes, I know Baker has just taken the Cubs there once in 2+ years, but come on. You wouldn't care if they made the playoffs?
  5. I don't think its so much a Dusty Baker issue as it is a Corey Patterson issue. Patterson was lost out there, offnsively and defensively. It was actually sad to watch him play that way, especially at the plate. I don't think it would matter who was managing him. Baker didn't send them down, Hendry did. I think it was the right move, and I think it had to be made. Patterson was not helping this team, a move had to be made. Let him work it out in Iowa, he will be back. At the moment, the team is better without him. Is it completely nd Dubois'fault the team is where it is now? Of course not, but they weren't helping that much. I still think both can be very productive, but kepping Alou another year would have been the smarter move.
  6. I was one of his strongest backers, and yes, he's a bust at this point. I'm not sure if it's the back and other problems that have put him on the DL periodically that have sapped his speed & power or if his skills just didn't translate well to MLB. I guess that is just part of the risk/reward when it comes to acquiring players from Japan. There really haven't been a whole lot to date. With Hideki Matsui and Ichiro being the obvious success stories. Although, Iguchi is having a pretty solid ML debut as well. I'm really interested to see how this trend will develop over the next few years.
  7. speaking of Japanese imports, is it safe to label Kaz Matsui as a bust yet? I know a lot of people were clamoring for him a couple years back, seemed like a good idea at the time, but I'm glad the Cubs didn't invest that kind of money in him.
  8. I'm an idiot...lock it.
  9. They mentioned last night on ESPN that Rolen will sit out the All-Star game to rest his shoulder. Looks like there is a chance we could have Cubs starting at 1B and 3B.
  10. Looks like I'll get to see Prior Tuesday night in Cincy then.
  11. I apologize if this has been discussed. Have they announced it yet?
  12. According to Gammons on ESPN Radio this deal is off... Yay! The Cubs can still get him!
  13. Are they supposed ot be so stupid they're funny? They are very odd.. I just let the MLB.TV run on my computer at work, I swear it doesn't decrease my production any more than normal...
  14. Where to begin.... Its the 1st inning. Is Overbay really a much better matchup? If you want to blame somebody, blame Madux for laying a meatball in there. I can't remember the last time I saw an intentional walk in the 1st inning. Not everything is Dusty's fault...
  15. Why Dubois? I hope your joking. I like the guy, but he's hardly deserving of being an All-Star.
