  1. Yeah, same here. Have 2 bleachers for the first Cards game of the year 4/20. Also two bleachers for the Cards on 8/20. I can't make it, pm me if your interested.
  2. Just picked up 2 each for the Giants on 7/17 and 7/18. Bleacher seats on the 17th Sec 235 on the 18th
  3. Sounds like a good time to me :)
  4. Somebody bump the old threads were people were freakin out about Lou being a candidate, and then hired. Those were funny.
  5. I sure hope we win our last two games then at least one in the Big Ten tourney Man, it's been a long time since we've entered the big dance as a #11 or lower seed, but if we lose two of the next three (one of the last two and the first B10 tourney game) we may be lucky to get that. We should be back ahead of Purdue after their loss to Iowa tonight, but we'll have to win at Iowa to stay that way. Winning those last 2 regular season games should put us as a 3 or 4 in the Big 10 tourney. (I'm not sure how tiebreakers work. We split with IU, so if it then becomes total record, we'd have it) . In case of tiebreakers, I beleive it defaults to the team's record against the first place team.
  6. Tampa is an excellent place to go for ST. Like others have said, the Jays, Phillies, Yankees, and Tampa Bay are all within 15-25 minutes of one another. Used to go every year with my grandfather who covered Spring training. Would go down during spring break, and sometimes a week beforehand. Some of the best memories of my life. Then I got to high school and couldn't leave during spring break because of baseball...oh well.
  7. How ironic. 7m a year for the next 3 years for a pitcher with an over 6.00 ERA is not considered too much, but 13.5/13.75m for a GOOD pitcher, a true #1 starter is too high. Good luck getting Zito money from Hendry, Carlos. He seems to think 15m is too high, so there isn't any possible way he gives out 18m for the same guy. At least Hendry pretended like he wanted to get a deal done. Now I'm pissed again. Hendry understands the process. While I want Zambrano signed, I can see the logic here. Hendry likely sees the Oswalt deal as comparable to what Zambrano should recieve. He may be willing to go a little higher, but his leverage is in winning this hearing. If Zambrano loses and is only making 11 million this year, then they can use the extra million in this year to sweeten a possible extension. If they lose, which based on the way these hearings go I don't think they will, they will have to offer much more in the extension. If they gave in to the mid-point and signed Zambrano to a one-year 13.5 million deal, then they would have to begin the escalation on the extension there. While I'm certain Hendry is working to keep Zambrano, he certainly has to be smart with the dollars here. The Oswalt deal should be comparable. Oswalt has had the better career.
  8. http://www.news-gazette.com/news/local/2007/02/20/uis_smith_charged_with_diu_leaving_accident_scene This article doesn't paint a very good picture of what happened that night....
  9. Doubt it. I wouldn't be surprised if the university dismisses him and it never comes by Weber. That being said, we all know how athletes are treated at every major university. Maybe if the Mcbride incident never occured he would get a second chance, but like you, I doubt he does.
  10. Not good news for Jamar Smith today, going to be charged with felony aggravated DUI and failure to report an accident with injury. Curious to see if BW just slaps his wrist like he did with Mcbride's DUI.
  11. I'd be interested in playing, if there are any spots still left. Let me know...
  12. i don't have much respect for the voters if the best signing was daisuke. I think they're only factoring his contract in and not the posting fee-when you do that, he is the best signing IMO. I think it is still too premature to say that. Potential or not, fact stil remains that he has never thrown a pitch in the major leagues. He may be great, but I still think it is risky.
  13. Smith called the police, but only after he drove home. He has since lawyered up, which you should do in any casewhere you were driving and someone else is injured. It hapened almost the same spot McBride was injured. Or at least that is what I have read. We really need to get the guys into an on campus house. Is there speculation of anything that may have led to the crash? Some of the quotes I have seen have been rather mysterious. I believe the blizzard and the tree were the main causes. Anything else is just speculation at this juncture. I haven't really read anything about it, at least since the article saying Carlwell was improving, thank god.
  14. He previews hot stories for each league, the Rangers and Sosa were one of those in the AL. He was asking the question is the Sosa signing really something for the Rangers and the fans to be excited about. He polled people in baseball for the info. Soriano got votes in both categories.
  15. He might want to show up to the Rangers ST on time this year. Going to need all the time possible to come back and play this year.
  16. Pretty good article, lots of information on the Cubs. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/spring2007/columns/story?columnist=stark_jayson&id=2763402 Bits and Pieces... *Cubs most improved NL team * Cubs #1 Checkbook Champs * Soriano 3rd best free agent signing * Wood best FA signing under 2 million * 3 Cubs received votes for worst FA signing, Lilly, marquis, and Soriano *Wood/Prior #1 most important injury comeback *David Eckstein had a higher SLG% than Sosa in 2005

  18. Good for Soriano. Seems like he really enjoys the game. He must if he was wanting permission to play in the Dominican Winter League.
  19. Carrol asked him about this. Stone responded that he enjoys thinking along with the pitcher and manager. He says he will never second-guess a manager, he first-guesses. That is the only fair way to do it in his opinion. If he guesses correctly, so be it. If not, then he is wrong.
  20. No problem. It is pretty standard for probably the entire organizational coaching staff to be there by now.
  21. Just got done listening to the interview he did with Will Carrol at Baseball Prospectus. I reccomend downloading the interview and listening to it if you get the chance. Surprised to hear that he does not have an announcing job this season after two years with ESPN. ESPN lost their Wednesday afternoon and Thursday night games, so they had to cut back on their broadcasts. Talked a lot about the Cubs too. Pulling for Kerry, just wishes that he would have recognized that a power pitcher cannot succed with the kind of mechanics, throwing across his body, and would have made some changes earlier in his career.
  22. All minor league coaches will report as well. Minor leaguers participate in ST too...
  23. The stripes above the ear are on all of the team models... Does look odd at first.

  25. Terrible. Hope everybody comes out OK and as healthy as possible, forget basketball.
