  1. Assad is still optionable. Rea to the pen. Idk Cabrera's timeline but doesn't seem like he's expected back soon, and Steele returning should be seen as a luxury at this point. Taillon and Boyd seem likely to get hurt again before the season ends. So there isn't really a ton of overstock.
  2. Jace Beck was a minor league Rule 5 guy right? Did we notice something in his mechanics or were the Mets not having him throw a good pitch mix?
  3. Given that I live in Philly, I went to a couple days of the Fan Village. Lotta fun. Got to meet Dexter Fowler, whose smile lights up a room. He saw me coming and said "oh I love that hat" (I was wearing the 2016 WS Champs hat). Also went to a talk with Fergie Jenkins. Afterward he signed a card for me and kept chatting like he had nowhere to be. Genuinely friendly/awesome. I asked if he knew the Cubs drafted the grandson of the guy who shares his Topps rookie card and he said yeah and went on a story about how they came up together and signed their contracts like a week apart. I asked him his favorite Wrigley memory and he told me his first one. His first game at Wrigley pitching with the Phillies and he gave up a homer to Santo and still talks about how the Cubs are the only NL team he's never beaten. Also a fun note: someone in the crowd asked him the pitcher in the MLB today who reminds him most of himself, and without hesitating Fergie said "Cubs have a kid named Ben Brown who was lights out before he got hurt and I can't wait to see what he does when he's back on the mound."
  4. A college arm who can hit upper 90s is a solid get. Needed that in the system. Will he be signed at slot?
  5. Fun city. We drove up for the heck of it and spent 3 days there. Across the way from Rogers is an old train terminal that has a brewery in it (Steam Whistle Brewery) for something else to do. I remember liking the Distillery District too (and the Hockey Hall of Fame).
  6. Went once, in 2014. Saw Edwin Encarnacion crank 2 homers. Stadium isn't exactly beautiful but it was a fun time. Highlight was two guys bumping into each other near us and getting into a fight over who should have said sorry first. Most Canadian thing I've witnessed.
  7. One way to find out! Get him in the organization! I do love Adbert and have for awhile and he has as much upside as any of the other in-season guys added to Iowa. Couldn't hurt to see what he looks like up close.
  8. The Mets released Adbert Alzolay. Bring him home, Jed!
  9. Another injured pitcher. The new guy, an extreme GB pitcher, serves up a HR to the first batter he faces. I truly think we're in a simulation that is pushing the limits of our sanity.
  10. I'd be more ok with it if Peterson had another year of control but we need a healthy not terrible starter and his underlying numbers are better than the ERA indicates. Losing Mathis is a bummer but it's not an insane overpay.
  11. Jed again playing pitcher roulette. At least Bryse Wilson has had "some" success in the past.
  12. One positive of the move though is maybe Kepley finally goes up to AA. Or dare they get aggressive with Hartshorn.
  13. I know Cam Sisneros doesn't have the highest ceiling but why are we trading assets for another DFAd reliever? Jed is literally stockpiling everyone's AAA castoffs.
  14. 27 different pitchers used already. We used 31 all of last season. The amount of injuries is ludicrous.
