11:07pm: Paul Sullivan of the Chicago Tribune has Phillies sources saying the deal is in place if the Cubs will pull the trigger with the Padres. Sullivan also talked to chairman Crane Kenney, who implied the Cubs included Peavy's contract within projected budgets to bidders.

I think it's a great idea, unfortunately the only thing people do these days on this board (not pointing an fingers but everyone knows who) is derail threads. Quite sad that it is allowed, and the same dbags are allowed to do it relentlessly.

So assuming DeRo is moved, we are having Fontenot/(Cedeno) as our permanent 2B? That's a glaring hole... I love Fonty... but playing 155+ games a year... he isn't going to produce like he has.

Towers said a deal "could happen quick" if Hendry and the Cubs agree to assuming not only Peavy's $11 million salary in 2009 but the remainder of the $63 million he's owed over the next four seasons. Isn't Marquis owed 10 million? If we can move him and his full contract and move DeRo.... we'd have enough to sign Roberts.
