  1. With stats like that, he'd be one of the Cubs' team leaders. Bradley for Patterson?
  2. So glad that you've taken the time to point out the main reason the 2009 Cubs suck!! You're so wise!!!
  3. DeRosa makes the most sense, that's why it will never happen. That, and Hendry is a dumbass.
  4. If there's one team I enjoy beating, more than the Cardinals or even the Brewers, it's the Reds. Their fans are the worst. They're more interested in booing the opposition than cheering for their own team, and they're overall mean spirited baseball fans. I was at the game last night, and you should have seen the streams of "fans" leaving the park at the end of the ninth inning. You've got a close baseball game, great weather, a Saturday night, and you're going to leave the park? Classic. Outnumbered, outcheered, and outclassed in their own park. Par for the course for the Redlegs. SHUT THEM DOWN, CUBS.
  5. We haven't had a third baseman for going on five weeks now, and the Cubs brass have said time and time again that Fontenot is their boy at third. I think it's a pretty logical conclusion for one to make. Utterly.
  6. An article entitled "Turning a 97-win team into a .500 Laughing Stock in One Easy Offseason." With focus on trading DeRosa and Wuertz, signing Kevin Gregg, Milton Bradley, Aaron Miles, and Joey Gathright. Also, giving a full time job to a part timer with decent success in limited at bats.
  7. Paul Sullivan, ladies and gentleman.
  8. I could see this team signing Glavine to be the left in the pen and sending down Marshall. That would make Lou happy.
  9. Eff you Marmol and Gregg.
  10. David Freaking Patton's going to have more IP the rest of the season than Marshall. Effing amazing.
  11. Hopefully enough people will harp about how we need to trade for DeRosa and Hendry will actually do it. Sorta like how all the hubbub about the "lack of left handed hitting" influenced his decision to trade DeRosa in the first place.
  12. Question for anyone who has watched enough of a Sox game this year to know the answer: Does Stoney participate in that idiotic "You can put it on the boooooooard, YES!" homerun call with with that backwoods hick partner of his?
  13. You'd rather take the guy who is actually GETTING on base out of the lineup, so we can put the guy who DOESN'T GET ON BASE into the lineup under the assumption that he's GOING TO START GETTING ON BASE? Ok.
  14. Im saying give him a chance to go out and be Aaron Miles if were not going to aquire a better option. Or, ride the Scales train for as long as we can, as long as he keeps getting on base at a reasonable clip and playing adequate defense. No wait, I like your idea better.
  15. You throw around the name "Miles" and ".280 hitter" like this is some sort of scenario that's likely to occur before Ramirez comes back. It's not. Fontenot is OPSing .650 (and falling) and Miles is just above .500. How is this an acceptable scenario when we may not see Ramirez take the field until August and we have several other black holes in the lineup that cannot be moved? You don't need a team full of sluggers, but you need a capable offense when you have a Brewers and Cardinals rotation that seems to pitch well no matter who they pick up off the scrap heap and a couple of offenses that are capable of putting runs up on the board like they are. You need a capable offense when you have a bullpen whose top three guys are Marmol, Gregg, and Heilman. You can't have a couple of extra Mendozas in your lineup when you already have a couple of albatrosses on the right side of the field that can't be moved, a guy behind the plate that may not hit all year, a third baseman who might not be able to produce to his potential even after he returns to the lineup, and a center fielder who may all of a sudden decide to turn back into a pumpkin just like he did last year.
  16. So basically you're saying that IF by some baseball miracle, Miles completely pulls himself out of the toilet and somehow brings his average from .204 up to .280, you wouldn't mind him playing 2nd. Way to rock the boat, there.
  17. I think Arnold's been watching too much ESPN...
  18. Put the universe on hold, our pitcher can't hit!!! American League baseball sucks so hard.
  19. Miles isn't exactly a legit backup SS either.... And I'd rather eat his salary than have him eat at bats, because that's what's going to happen as long as Ramirez is on the DL, Lou is our manager, and Miles is on the roster.
  20. With Scales and Freel on the team, there is absolutely no point for Miles to be wasting a roster spot and hogging ABs. DFA, please.
  21. Hey, I don't care how we score, just so long as we do. Oh, no doubt. These are some of my favorite types of games actually. I love when the supposed offensive lightweights like Theriot, Fuk, and Lilly put runs on the board to make up for some of the offensive black holes in our lineup...(four-hole, I'm looking at you...)
  22. Theriot, our suddenly .850 OPSing shortstop knocks in two with another homerun, and Lilly almost blasts one out to plate another couple while Geo and Lee continue to suck the life out of our offense. Classic.
  23. If Gathright isn't pinch running here, why is he on the team? Wake the hell up, Lou.
  24. Translating Cubspeak to English, they'll be out anywhere from 2-4 weeks without being DL'ed.
