  1. Marquis just stinks. Lieber in the rotation please. He can also pitch for Lilly and Hill as well if he wants to. I'm not sure Lieber could handle pitching all those games.
  2. Is VORP a good stat to use for pitchers? Because last year he was 34th in the league. 34th among starters? That makes no sense. why not?

  4. I hope you're joking about the bolded part. As of right now, Hill should be lucky to call himself a major league starter. He should be. Not many people get to accomplish what he's done. But I don't see how that has any relevance here.
  5. Okay, Lieber replaces Hill, Marshall replaces Marquis after he does terrible tomorrow, so I guess the only one left is Gallagher.

  7. So...are they officially the Cobs again?
  8. fixed See, this is why no one likes Duke fans. Because they are realists? yes.

  10. Okay, the Cubs are going to score 10 runs in the ninth.
  11. The Cubs are going to score seven in the ninth. You can count on it.
  12. ESPN is also showing that Hamels pitched 7, but the Cubs as a team have pitched 5.1 Now it's saying Hart is pitching to Derosa.
  13. I think ESPN's a little confused. On their scoreboard online, they just said Alex Rios got a hit off of Roy Halladay. And Cole Hamels was pitching to himself.
  14. Okay, correct me. If a player outperforms his capability, it's far more likely he'll return to his average than suddenly become terrible to even it out. And seriously, it's three starts. Well, this is an unlikely parade of crap, then. I don't care if it's only been three starts. If you're the #2 pitcher for a presumed division champion, it's unacceptable to fail to complete five innings in three successive starts. At least that's what I think. I might be wrong. Maybe if he failed to complete six innings, that'd be one thing, but to not yet escape the fifth? This only means he'll have like three shutouts later in the year. Progression to the mean, folks.
  15. What are you talking about? He's a .500 pitcher. He had an outstanding year last year, now he's making up for it with terrible play. you're right, looking at win-loss is THE BEST way to judge where a pitcher ranks on a range from best-average-worst scale. you got it solved. Maybe I should have said "average" pitcher. I'm talking about the quality of his pitching, which was way better than usual last year, and is now much worse. It's still only three starts.
  16. Breaking News: Justin Upton is good.
  17. This is the best news I've heard all day.
  18. I prefer players that are actually good. He's not great, but he's not terrible. Also, he's good on defense, and a switch hitter. Who would you want him over? Felix Pie and Reed Johnson are the only two players he could replace. He's certainly not a better option than Pie, and Johnson is a lot better at hitting lefties than him.
  19. I prefer players that are actually good. Small sample size I know, but he's hitting .387 with an OBP of .462 for the Mets this year. He'll return to his .740ish OPS soon enough.
  20. Hey guys, just wanted to come by and make sure you know that Evan Longoria, one of the top picks in the 2006 draft, is better than Felix Pie. He actually gets it.
