  1. With Hendry as GM, nothing surprises me. what the hell are we doing? It's John Grabow for crying out loud! ](*,)
  2. Do the Pirates still have a team? They made about 10 trades today.
  3. hahaha yeah that's because we're less then 48 hours from the trade deadline.
  4. Johnson officially broke his foot? Wow, looks like we're going to have to bust out the golf carts to track down balls in the gap if we acquire Dunn.
  5. 7 out of 8 pitches were for strikes, also. I've heard things about Atkins for awhile now, let's just see what he's got. While I also like Stevens, this is just the normal Hendry pattern. Sometimes I wonder if we all on this board should just make those kinds of decisions for the Cubs.
  6. You want me to waste your time posting "Nuh-Uh! I totally heard it?" Dude, someone else posted hearing it too. I wrote what I heard. Sorry to "waste" your time. That was AFTER I made my post. Just clarify the situation for us, that's all.
  7. we need this report to be straightened out a bit before we make any more assumptions
  8. In regards to Scutaro: Baker/Fontenot Combo: .210 BA 73 hits 9 HR 39 RBI Scutaro: .294 BA 118 hits 8 HR 46 RBI If he can play second base fairly decently, this may very well be something to look into. Or, we could just stick with the platoon. I'm not sure if we are even talking to the Jays about him, but who knows.
  9. I agree with Jeff, either Rhodes or Beimel. Rhodes looked good this past weekend against the Cubs and his numbers back it up.
  10. I think we'll probably get a reliever, whether it be a lefty or righty, and that's it.
  11. http://espn.go.com/chicago/columns/blog?name=levine&post=4355794/url] The Cubs have been talking to Pittsburgh among other teams as of late per Bruce Levine, and may even up the ante and try to acquire a starter as a result of the Lilly injury.
  12. Wow, this Haren stuff has to be crazy talk. I can't wait for tonight's radio/tv talk shows to expand on this milton bradley-to-detroit business.
  13. Multiple outlets, not just Bruce, are now shutting this rumor down. Oh well, it was fun to think about for like 45 minutes.
  14. Not to be rude, but, where in the heck is he right now? I wonder when the last time Mark actually picked up a baseball. I know he signed with the Padres again in the winter, but he's never actually thrown a pitch even in the minors for them in the two or three years he's been with them now. His career record as it stands (major leagues) right now is 42-29 with a 3.51 ERA in 4 "official" seasons.
  15. the Chi Cubs or maybe the Giants
  16. A late Matt Holliday push, anyone?
  17. From a Yankees perspective, the New York Daily News is proposing Melkey Cabrera, Phil Hughes, and outfield prospect Austin Jackson would be enough for Toronto to get Halladay.
  18. Once Pedro becomes official and if they get Halladay too, they will definitely be on track to repeat.
  19. yeah we'll see what happens, who knows maybe the Pirates will actually keep a player for once rather then trading him away. Also, yes, I acknowledge that Fuld isn't proven yet, but he only has 16 at-bats, so we can't really go off much as of right now.
  20. Fukudome is hitting .197 since June 1st. And while I do think he is good defensively, there is nothing Fuld can't do in centerfield than Fukudome can.
  21. Getting Freddy Sanchez would be huge for this team at this point in the season. If I were making the decisions here would be my Cubs lineup after the acquisition: 1. Fuld-CF (but more likely Fukudome or Reed since Lou has no backbone) 2. Sanchez-2B 3. Lee-1B 4. Ramirez-3B 5. Bradley-RF 6. Soriano-LF 7. Hill-C (Soto when he comes back) 8. Theriot-SS I'm not sure who we would give up to get Freddy from the Bucs, but Hendry has dealth with Pittsburgh so much the last 7 years that it can definitely get done before the 31st.
  22. I agree with Newman, if we want to sign someone to help Fukudome transition easier, then we should sign somebody like Otsuka or we should have maybe signed Takashi Saito or something. This guy appears to be a bum. He wasn't even good in the Japanese league.
