  1. any more guys who could make their cub debut in this inning? or should dusty wait until there's a more pressure packed situation? maybe the bases loaded and a 3-0 count on the batter? meanwhile two very good relievers warm up in the pen.
  2. is this really the best time for aardsma's cubs debut? tie game in the 6th inning vs. the heart of the order?
  3. pujols better not see anything to hit today. rolen is out of the lineup and some old guy in jim edmonds' uniform is hitting behind him. their lineup is not that good.
  4. I'm personally pretty happy that Hendry didn't overpay for Furcal and stayed with Cedeno. agreed. we have enough overrated leadoff men (1) on this team.
  5. i liked flipping the bat 12 feet in the air. how does he not get drilled in the head for doing that?
  6. Yep; that makes me a happy camper. :D At least when you go down this week you can take some comfort knowing that it's due to an ageless wonder helping the Cubs win. it's talk like this that inspires my team to jack three homers and a couple of doubles w/in a half an hour span to make your 20+ point lead a distant memory. lesson learned.
  7. it was on dan patrick, and he did mention the cubs by name.
  8. i've made a huge mistake (maybe more than one). hanley ramirez is going off...and i considered throwing him out there at U this week. tejada may have to go on the block. and oliver perez is off to a better start. though he just walked the pitcher w/ two outs and then allowed a double. boy, does that st louis lineup blow outside of rolen and pujols. i can't see why anyone would pitch to pujols right now.
  9. i didn't realize i was going to be facing two starts from 1992 greg maddux this week...
  10. but his defense is KILLING the team.
  11. patterson and myers came around this week in a serious way.
  12. you misspelled 2.
  13. http://static.flickr.com/5/5327006_aa7966028b_o.gif
  14. ryan harvey = dave kingman
  15. is mabry still on the team? why the hell would bynum play over him? it's gotta be that speed!
  16. hill certainly rose to the occasion tonight. wonder if rusch will do the same tomorrow. i'd still rather have hill out there than marshall...
  17. two one way tickets to chicago, please. outstanding work by hill and aardsma tonight. hill has to be ahead of gooz by quite a bit at this point. pressure's on rusch tomorrow.
  18. it's called aggressiveness. maybe you've heard of it...it wins ballgames. or, in this case, it makes the last out at 3rd when that run is meaningless, and the potential winning run is due up. either way.
  19. big starts abound this weekend...hill, williams and rusch. may the least worst man win!
  20. if clemens comes back, i'll feel pretty good about getting him in the 9th round. i was surprised that patterson, a top 25 SP in 2005, slipped to the 3rd round. hasn't paid off yet, but i think he'll come around.
  21. tim, i have baker, you have liriano. since baker's obviously better, i'll do you a favor and trade you straight up.
  22. has pierre hit the ball out of the infield this week?
  23. i'm also really annoyed by how cold he looks out there. when he gets into the box, it looks like he just can't wait to get out so he can go back to the dugout and get warm. i know he's not from a country where he had to experience many 40 degree days, but, come on, it's not like this is his first spring in the midwest.
  24. i'm open to trading one of my four dominant closers. :D
  25. i guess we just disagree then. i don't think it's ridiculous to assume that a guy will struggle when he first gets to the bigs. most guys do. don't get me wrong, i'd rather suffer through a few outings where guzman struggles than a whole season of rusch continuing to struggle. i'd prefer hill marginally over guzman at this point, but i'd prefer them both considerably over rusch.
