  1. doesn't really matter if it is...hendry's BFF with eyre and howry, who would both (apparently) bring in seven hall of famers each. though williamson's certainly available, and he's not much worse than majewski.
  2. i'd say it's usually a pretty good trade when you end up with (arguably) the three best players involved.
  3. you seem to be ok w/ trying to be competitive and maybe sniff .500 because that's exactly what they've done the past three years.
  4. Maybe you don't realize that a prediction on an internet message board will have no bearing on how a team will react when lossing 100 games either. I prefer winning to retooling and cutting and slashing the current team. I guess other don't. the current team is not capable of winning. that's the problem.
  5. just because you predict something doesn't mean you want it to happen. or maybe you don't realize that a prediction on an internet message board will have no bearing on how a team plays.
  6. 100 losses. I was about to say a few less losses, like 91, but that would take a .500 record the rest of the way, and I don't see that happening. That is hilarious, they have to play above .500 just to avoid 90 losses. A couple games under and they flirt with 95 losses. How can Hendry possibly think this is acceptable? don't worry...if things start to decline, hendry's all over it.
  7. Uhh, I hope you realize I wasn't trying to argue against your point. I don't want Rusch. oh, i'm pretty sure i remember you saying he was your favorite player when he played for your favorite team (the mets).
  8. maybe the dumbest thing i've ever heard a guy whose job it is to evaluate baseball talent say. that's scary.
  9. argh...of all the people you'd think wouldn't miss the start of this game...stupid eastern standard time. good to see he pitched well, though.
  10. Yep...playing time for younger guys to see what you have, instead of playing older guys because they're your "horses". I don't buy that argument. Dusty has been playing the "younger guys" to see what they have. Unfortunately, they were not quite ready to be played. i'd say marmol and marshall have given prior, wood, maddux and rusch a run for their money, production-wise. Hill and Guzman gave Rusch a run for his money. ok, you take rusch, i'll take hill and guzman and whoever has a more productive hand five years from now gets $50 cyber bucks. my point is, it's foolish for dusty to continue throwing the kids under the bus when marshall and marmol, who have been far from spectacular, have been no worse than prior, maddux or rusch.

  12. if z and prior go on the DL and maddux gets traded, the cubs are certainly going to have an interesting rotation for the rest of '06...probably rusch and four rookies.
  13. wow, baker is going to be in top excuse-making form if prior and z both miss starts. a rotation with maddux, marshall, marmol, guzman and hill??? oh, the humanity! he'll get rusch in there somewhere...
  14. hill starts for the PCL in the AAA all-star game, which is tonight. i believe it's on espn/espn2 too. also...
  15. if the cubs produced someone the caliber of johnson or soriano, i'd be doing backflips of glee.
  16. seriously. do you just want to completely ruin dusty's record?
  17. blame hendry for failing to either fire him or give him an extension if you want to whine about it.
  18. eh, papelbon blew a save and you still have ensberg and pujols to go. i was hoping to get it this week too...haven't won a week all year. blown save for timlin gives alamo a chance! now watch vazquez get a 12 inning win in relief or something and i'll end up losing...
  19. oddly enough, it didn't bother me much last week when alamo stealth's lineup featured 2 guys on the DL, one RP, and brad "0 for june" ausmus over posada. but now that they're w/in 10 points of the team one game ahead of me in the standings, i find it a bit irksome. i could use an alamo comeback and some really, really bad pitching from HBC's remaining two starters.
  20. good news...len says marshall is available to pitch in relief today! that would be a perfect capper on this first half.
  21. lee looked like he was very disappointed to walk.
  22. there's no room on this team? yeah, the squad is just filled to the brim with such productive players (as evidenced by the stellar record) that we just can't squeeze a youngster onto the roster. argh, the agony of being such a good team.
  23. Maybe it's time to make Guzman a closer candidate. i say we just take him out back and shoot him. Nah, we should do that with Hill instead. :P line em up together and save a bullett.

  25. i think the more common excuse would be, you know, the tear in his rotator cuff.
