  1. hill's control has been fantastic since the second half of last season. he didn't walk a batter this spring.
  2. There's a lot of evidence to show that he was bad last year largely in part to how infrequently Dusty would use him due to the team being so bad. When he was used on an even somewhat regular basis, he did pretty well. His bad periods typically came after Dusty sat him at least 3 games or more. i think there's lots of evidence showing that last year was pretty much in line with his entire career, save for his ridiculous run in 2005.
  3. he probably is one of the biggest weaknesses on the team. i'd say he, izturis and marquis are probably the top three.
  4. heh...everybody talks about what a hack perry is until he gives the cubs a favorable review...all the sudden he provides pretty good analysis.
  5. and he'll be making more money this year if he's cut than most of us would make in a lifetime. he's starting the year off on the DL, so no yo-yoing will occur with young pitchers. just admit your emotions are what is causing you to want him to be cut. That has something to do with it. I'm an emotional fan. But that doesn't change the fact that this guy has always been on the DL since 2004 and cannot be relied upon even as a reliever. and neither one of them is being counted on for anything at this point. so no harm is done by having them on the DL, and anything they add is considered an unexpected bonus. releasing them just b/c you're mad that they've been hurt accomplishes nothing.

  7. give him a chance!
  8. i saw dope take bp while i was there...he looks like he's really slimmed down.
  9. rothschild needs to drop the 'tude. i will strike him if he ever talks to len like that again.
  10. wow, you predicted that wood would be hurt? you're obviously very smart. No, I predicted a whole mess of you would get excited about his first start, declare him a god (again) and then see his human frality and come up with another thread about it. and almost none of that happened. good job.
  11. wow, you predicted that wood would be hurt? you're obviously very smart. Do you feel better now? a little. it's a message board. nobody's posts accomplish anything.
  12. i never saw him do anything besides stand behind the batting cage during my time at fitch. on my last day there, flieta walked past him and harvey told him he was "getting close." anybody know what's up?

  14. Couldn't disagree more. What'd be the point? To get rid of an undependable (or is it non?) and injury-proned pitcher who is trying to change positions on the staff. If he weren't a Cub but some FA off the street, would you want to sign him? probably not. but he's already signed, so your question is pointless.
  15. how is dumping him now and still paying him his (modest) salary cutting our losses?
  16. i was sitting behind a scout in the stands today, and he was running a gun during the first inning. gallagher was 90-92, and he had one 95.
  17. toby hall had a chance to start somewhere?
  18. at least he hustled after it. was that another two strike mistake by gooz?
  19. any idea which game he'll be throwing in? i'll be there that day, and i'd like to see him pitch.
  20. agreed. i put eight grand on this game.
  21. shouldn't this be in the IR thread? Not sure I follow (rookie) harden's a [expletive].
  22. i understand that it's his opinion, but that doesn't mean he's not terrible at what he does.
  23. it has never been that hot when i've been at ST. in fact, i've always wished it was a little warmer...probably won't be the case this year. i'll be there in four days!
