canario sure swings through a lot of 93 mph fastballs right down the middle -
antonio alfonseca-ing that horsefeathers. counsell was pretty bad with the pen to start the season in my opinion, but everything he did this series worked perfectly.

if you’re not gonna ph bellinger for Canario, don’t bunt with amaya. pretty simple. playing for extra innings when you have zero good relievers left is just stupid.

i'm not saying it was a GOOD attempt to win baseball games.

they were in first place in late June before they completely face planted. which came the season after they face planted in the playoffs. which happened a couple seasons before they mega super duper face planted this season. there is absolutely nothing good to say about how david ross managed teams ended their seasons. cubs were trying to win in 3 of his 4 seasons and they won zero playoff games. that shouldn't be acceptable for the smallest of small market teams, and it sure as horsefeathers shouldn't be acceptable for the cubs.

huh? the 2021 team was the defending division champion. the opening day lineup included happ, contreras, rizzo, bryant and baez. they were 100% "supposed to win" that season.

as i'm sure i said on here 100 times, it was absolutely wild to me that there was little to no talk of firing a guy with a losing record over four seasons and zero playoff wins. glad hoyer decided to stop running this team like the pirates.

there is not a manager on earth that would (or should) give up on the season at this point. can the people that were saying I was being ridiculous like two weeks ago at least acknowledge that I wasn’t being this absurd?

he’s been thrown out on the bases twice and got picked off another time that the opponent screwed up. he’s also dropped a fly ball. those things have nothing to do with usage…they’re just being bad. he has stunk and should not be playing over anyone at this point. there are 1,000 bad things to say about ross (I’ve mentioned 817 of them), this ain’t one of them.

I mean Braves extended everybody EXCEPT swanson and they seem pretty smart. I don’t know how tonight gets any more hilarious with the Kay blown save and Swanson choking in the clutch.

i understand baseball is flukey and weird and silly things happen day to day but this really seems like choking.

the cubs run differential tells you the cubs aren’t “terrible.” but they’ve been losing games on the margins all season because their bad GM put together a flawed roster that led to lots of bums taking too way many at bats and their manager consistently fails in close games. the cubs run differential vs their actual record is all you need to know about ross’ performance in close games.
