  1. that’s dumb. I want them to be good. I think this team SHOULD be good (ish). in fact, based on how most people here are acting like we should feel blessed that this isn’t a 77 win team, I apparently had higher expectations for this team going into the season than most. I thought they’d compete for the division. I think my “negativity” comes from the fact that I think it’s ridiculous that the cubs, with their huge payroll and gigantic market, should need to suck/be mediocre in like 50% of their seasons. I can’t believe people are fine with that.
  2. because it’s not how the enlightened game threader behaves
  3. you’re just mad because you want to be negative now like me but you can’t
  4. I don’t think it’s true that I never post anything “positive,” but, for one, I think it’s more natural to vent about things going poorly in a game thread than it is to be like “yay” when something good happens. but obv the bigger reason for my “constant stream of negativity” is the fact that the cubs followed up three amazing seasons with five seasons of zero playoff wins and two especially dog horsefeathers seasons most recently. so yeah, my negative posts prob outweigh my positive ones. I don’t think ross and hoyer are very good at their jobs and their record reflects that. I still think they’ll make the playoffs this year if that counts as positive

  6. three times they’ve failed to score a guy from 3rd with less than 2 outs. oops, that sounded negative. glad the fellas got some exercise today and it looks like the weather was nice!
  7. lol so weird that I’m not feeling great about this team right now. completely unjustified, I know.
  8. everybody competing for least reactionary game thread poster licking their chops right now…
  9. please don't make four innings of blown opportunities matter...
  10. the sheer rockies-ness of these rockies has really kept the cubs in this series.
  11. yeah I never said they were amazing and should never lose. it’s not like hysterical or something to say they’ve looked bad for the last six games. they have. are we really doing the “I’m the most level handed fan in the game thread” thing to the extent that you have to be like “no actually they looked GOOD tonight.”
  12. not even remotely similar what-ifs. but the point is the cubs look very bad right now.
  13. have to be rooting for the brewers to sweep the marlins, right? winning the central seems extremely unlikely at this point.
  14. a dropped fly ball away from playing to avoid a sweep tomorrow 😬
  15. did suzuki get some kind of break or rest earlier this season? I’ve heard a whisper or two about it from sutcliffe 693 times the last two days.
  16. on the bright side, I don’t blame ross for any of this trash.
  17. second day in a row the phillies hit a dramatic game tying 9th inning hr only to lose in the 10th lol.
  18. this might surprise you but sutcliffe is a BIG FAN of Luke little
  19. I mean that’s a ****** break, but don’t put three sub .600 OPS guys on for free.
  20. sutcliffe comparing assad’s cutter to Mariano Rivera’s. he’s insane.
  21. I thought assad’s worst case scenario was a strike thrower
