  1. 1.313 SLG tonight for the Chiefs' top 4...add Ridling behind them and the first five batters are 10-for-19...tonight.
  2. Not that it really matters. Just read it though....I'm trying to avoid the inevitable homework that is due tomorrow....NSBB.com has proven to effectively take care of that - at least until the game comes in right now! #-o
  3. He's also starting at catcher and has 2 passed balls through 6 innings. :-s Surely we can't judge the guy on 2 passed balls since he hasn't caught since when?!? Who cares about his fielding for now...he needs some big league at-bats to prove he can hit. And if he can, then surely an AL team would want the bat!
  4. Interesting observation on Burke. Prior to this year he has played 95% of his games in RF (with the Padres and Cubs), except for a few games at 1B or another OF position if the need arose. Here are his splits for this year: RF-9 (27%) CF-7 (21%) LF-15 (45%) DH-2 (6%) Does this have more to do with getting him PT at all 3, or the personnel on the club?
  5. Vitters with another double...3-for-3 now!
  6. Vitters now 2-for-2 with a HR (5) and a double (5).
  7. Disclaimer: I have a bias. But, I'm not sure what you saw, or what the circumstances were, but I would put Burke's athleticism up there with almost anyone on the Peoria team. From being an all-state linebacker to winning the dunk contest his senior year in high school, athleticism is one area he's not lacking.
  8. Both. Should have been covered, but you've got to make sure someone's there before you throw it. This actually happened in my 5 & 6 Cubs game tonight. Runner on second, the ball hit to my pitcher (my kid). He fields it, turns and throws it to third. My third baseman is looking at the runner...ball goes flying into left field. ](*,) I guess it can happen at every level.
  9. That's two in two days. Yeah, kinda...
  10. Solo HR for Vitters. Chiefs still down by a run in the 8th.
  11. They already have 5 outfielders in Iowa......what roster need was he filling? Not sure..just heard on the Chiefs radio broadcast that since they were playing in Cedar Rapids, a player from Peoria would work best because they were closest. Someone with the Chiefs drove him halfway, and someone from the I-Cubs picked him up halfway....he pinch hit tonight for Iowa.
  12. Unfortunately MILB is not archiving games this year. I am trying to get some up on our site (Under Multimedia, click on Highlights & Interviews) as often as I can. Right now just the Miller Park game is up. If you ever want to hear any you can private message me and I'll try to find way to send them to you. I do have highlights up and I think both of Kyler's homers are there too. Ok, great! Thanks for the info. I know you guys are somewhat limited by MiLB, but keep up the good work. I enjoy listening and keeping up from down here in the Volunteer state!
  13. Also, David Macias got sent up to Iowa for a few games to fill a roster need..pinch hit tonight.
  14. From Nathan Baliva at http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20090504&content_id=576654&vkey=news_t443&fext=.jsp&sid=t443.
  15. I did notice that Colvin is in CF...is this his first game in the field, or have I just not been paying attention?
  16. Nathan, is there any system of archiving your radio broadcasts? I'd love to be able to go back and hear some of the calls since I rarely get to listen online. Thanks in advance.
  17. On the mound in Peoria, Cabrera: 6 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 2 K, 2 BB Chiefs up in the 8th, 7-0.
  18. In Peoria, double for Vitters and Ridling. HR for Burke.
  19. yah, because DARE Day at the park isn't *quite* long enough...we really needed a double-header tomorrow. Well, at least Raisin will have something to do at work  That said, I'm having a hard time getting excited for taking a vacation day in order to be at the park at 7am to wrap a bajillion hot dogs. At least it's not going to be really warm. I am looking forward to the Chiefs getting back to their winning ways. Although I know it's necessary to wrap a bajillion hot dogs in order to most efficiently stock and sell them, I always hate unwrapping them when I have to buy 8 for my family. Here in Chattanooga we have the Lookouts (AA-Dodgers). It took me 20 minutes the other day to unwrap all 8 hot dogs, put "ketchup only" on one, "mustard only" on one, "mustard and relish" on two, "mustard, ketchup, onions and relish" on two, and "mustard and ketchup" on two...and then have to put them all back in the wrapper to carry them back to our seats...I missed a whole half inning!
  20. vitters' numbers scream "second coming of howie kendrick" which might be nice for a middle infielder, but not so much for a 3B. So you'd rather "judge" 361 AB's over 3 years for a 19 year-old rather than scouting reports concerning his upside? Interesting. He's been at worst moderately impressive in his limited action. Go ahead and doubt his defense if you'd like, but there is absolutely no reason to be pessimistic to his upside at this point of his career. Upside is just upside, not reality. Scouting reports about upside are more often than not far more glowing than what happens in a players career. What matters is what the stat book says at the end of the day. I agree to a certain extent. But for someone who has tremendous upside, is only 19 years old, and still rather raw at the plate (from a professional experience standpoint), it's too early to write someone off...which seems to happen a lot with fans.
  21. On an injury note, Cliff Anderson injured his leg in the first today for Peoria and had to leave the game. Not sure of the seriousness.
