  1. what the hell? that wasn't close to being a strike.
  2. How, may I ask, did you determine that? We've been outpitched, and gotten lucky a few games. How did we get lucky? What was lucky about our wins? Yeah, we fell behind and had to come back, but I wouldn't call that luck. If you're referring to the blown calls, those have gone both ways. We've outhit the Phillies in 2 out of 3 games so far and drawn more walks in 2 out of 3 as well. So how have we've been outpitched?
  3. What's wrong with the offense lately? In their last nine games, they are averaging 6.67 runs a game. I was thinking the same thing. The offense, and team, is fine. I wouldn't mind Huff, though. But it's an unnecessary luxury.
  4. Well it all depends on the owner situation...but if the money is there, I'd love to add a big bat in LF/RF and move Fukudome to CF. I know promising him RF was a big reason why he came here, but I think he'll be okay with it. However, I wouldn't be opposed to allowing Pie and Johnson to platoon in CF to start the season and give Pie the real chance that he deserves. If it doesn't work out we could always make a deal in July. I don't see resigning Dempster and Wood as problems. It'll get done. I'm pretty sure Marquis will also be able to be dealt. We may have to eat a few million, but it'll be worth it. When's DeRo's contract up? After 2009, right?
  5. Well this completely destroys my fantasy team. I needed a win from Z to lock up a playoff spot in my 18 team dynasty league. Damn you, Cobs!
  6. and gonorrhea...wait, no just the umpiring crew
  7. Definitely. I don't even think there would have been a throw home.
  8. I'm pretty sure Karros is more of a fan of the Cubs than the Phils considering he absolutely loved his year with the Cubs. He's just telling it like it is and not at all "crying" about it. Just sayin. Geovany Soto.
  9. Never mind, I'm changing my pick to Ted Ginn Jr. I already drafted him.
  10. Update again. Last time. Pick one of the following: Robbie Ross, P, TEX Aaron Shafer, P, CHC Ross Seaton, P, HOU Mike Montgomery, P, KC Dennis Raben, OF, SEA Robbie Grossman, OF, PIT Brett DeVall, P, ATL T.J. House, P, CLE Lee Hak-ju, SS, CHC Opinion? Or if you can think of someone else I'm missing that wasn't a first rounder, supp first rounder, Hunter, or Melville (they were all taken) let me know. I really can't decide.
  11. What a play by AJ Pierzynski. Really?
  12. Thanks for the help guys. I went with Beckham. 2nd round I'll probably grab Melville or Hunter if they're available.
  13. Thanks! Why did Hunter drop so far? I know he has injury issues, but 7th round? I'm thinking about going with Skipworth or Wallace and then trying to get Hunter or Melville in the 2nd round. Not big on Gordon Beckham?
  14. Yeah, SSR, that's the problem I'm facing. I don't really like anyone that's available. I was maybe thinking Wallace. He's supposed to be a Laporta/Gamel type, right? Good bat/no defense?
  15. I'd take Smoak over Alvarez barely, but that's me. I think those two are ahead of guys like Alonso and Posey, I'd be concerned about how raw and far away Beckham is. Hosmer is a great prospect, a surer thing than Beckham but again, a HS prospect. Inoa is only 16 years old and hasn't thrown a professional pitch yet, I'd take every single one of those guys ahead of Inoa (says the guy who has Inoa on his fantasy team). Sorry, I think I worded that badly. That list of guys were already taken. I can take anyone else from the draft. So Skipworth, the other Beckham, Wallace, etc.
  16. Who's the next best available player from the 2008 amateur draft or IFA? Taken already: Tim Beckham - SS, TB Pedro Alvarez - 3B, PIT Justin Smoak - 1B, TEX Brian Matusz - SP, BAL Yonder Alonso - 1B, Cin Buster Posey, C, Giants Eric Hosmer - 1B, KC Michel Inoa - SP, OAK Can't take Crow. It's for a fantasy league. I want the best pure hitter (position doesn't matter) or best available position. More concerned with potential/upside than anything else.
