  1. A ten team NL only league is like a regular 20 team league. Pedro, Young, Penny, Bannister aren't a horrible top 4 for a league like that. But as previously mentioned, I don't think too highly of either pitcher.
  2. I have a trade question as well, and didn't feel like starting a new thread. Its a keeper league where you keep all your players. I have Ensberg and the guy with Ramirez is getting impatient with him. Should I swap Ensberg for Ramirez? If I do, I can probably get him to throw in a good prospect or Clemens, and hope he comes back. Soooo what should I do?
  3. I'm pretty much in the same boat as you. I loved Giles a year ago when my keeper leagues started and he just hasn't lived up to the expectations I put on him. I guess you can try to trade him and see what you can get. You should be able to find a team with a weak 2b and get something decent from them.
  4. Hmm, I'd imagine Barrett would not be enough for Lugo. Toby Hall is red hot and I could see him hitting 15-20 homers and driving in 80 runs. I think Lugo could be used better to upgrade a different position. However, if you decide to do the deal for Barrett, I would also include a decent pitcher of your own and have him include a good pitcher. I'm sure he'll do it if he has a bad SS.
  5. I believe he was at 86. If he went another inning he would have most likely gone over 100. I think Dusty wants to keep his pitch count down and confidence up. It's better to take him out an inning too soon than an inning too late. That said, I wouldn't have cared if Dusty threw him out there for one more. As you mentioned, he was settling in nicely.
  6. What was the count when he got thrown out? If there was a full count, it's not really a bad move. Opens up a big hole in the defense and the chances of Mabry making contact or getting walked was pretty good. If Mabry shoots one through the hole on the right side and Ramirez goes to third, everyone would think its a good move. I'm sorry, but I can't blame Dusty for being aggressive. If there were less than 3 balls, then it was probably not a very good move to make.
  7. Williamson/Howry/Dempster get the job done once again! Get well soon DLee and Eyre!
  8. One person said X-Rays negative and one said inconclusive. Which is it?
  9. So all along the problem with the offense was DLee?
  10. I wouldn't mind seeing him a little more though. We have been getting our hits off him, just not cashing in. At least we won't see that Japanese guy again.
  11. putting him in in a position where he can succeed  I would have liked to see Aardsma pitch his first game with the Cubs in a situation without as much pressure.
  12. I believe the Bulls win the tiebreak with Washington, so a 4-way finish would be seeded: 5. Milwaukee 6. Indiana 7. Bulls 8. Washington With the Bucks and Wizards playing each other tomorrow, I believe the Bulls can clinch the 7th spot with a home win Wednesday against the Raptors. So we should root for a Pacers loss and Bulls win and we'll get the 6 seed?
  13. I definitely wouldn't give up Cabrera and Kent is even questionable. I'm just not very big on guys that help you a lot in one category (steals) but hurt you in many others (HR, RBI, OPS, etc...). I don't know though. You can probably get more for Cabrera though if you wanted to trade him. I think with Freel and Figgins you would never lose SB though, and you have enough power to make up for those two guys, so you could probably afford to lose Kent.
  14. Just when I finally thought he was gone, he recreates himself into the from of Freddie Bynum.
  15. I don't take any solace in that it could have been worse. And I dont blame you. Off with his head! (Rusch that is, obviously) I just like to search for the silver lining. I think the silver lining is that he has proven himself to be a pretty good BP pitcher. Haha, yeah, give up homers in BP to raise the confidence of our hitters. I like the idea.
  16. That was Marshall's first MLB game though! Not exactly the stick we should measure Rusch up against. I wasn't trying to compare them, I was just saying that as bad as Rusch pitched, his line still comes out better than Marshall's, who actually pitched pretty well. Rusch is a bum and should not have been resigned ever or in our rotation, but because of the way he was pitching, we very well could be out of this game. Instead we're only down 4. Hopefully we can chip away at it this inning.

  18. Yes, Rusch didn't pitch well, and probably shouldnt be in the rotation, but 4 run in 5 innings isn't as bad as it could have been. It was also better than Marshall's 4 runs in 4.3 innings. Not saying that to put down Marshall or anything, because I think he actually pitched well, just saying it could have been a lot worse and we still got a chance to come back in this one. Rusch should be out of the roation though.
  19. Well its the same thing now plus the Marlins. Doesn't seem overly "competitive" to me.
  20. No freakin' way. Patterson will most likely be as good, if not better, than Hudson and Ryan is a lot better than Cordero.
  21. Well the only way he would include Harden is if he got Santana. He wouldn't do the deal without Santana. But if he was giving up Harden for just Santana, he wouldnt include Liriano or Andy LaRoche. I eventually decided to trade Santana and Prior and got back Andy LaRoche, Liriano, McCarthy, and Harden. I know McCarthy wasn't great last year in the minors but I'd hardly call a 3.92 ERA with 130 K's to only 32 BB in only 119.3 IP in AAA "sucking big time". I think he's going to be a very good setup man this year and eventually move into the rotation. Liriano is just filthy. I expect him to move into the rotation by the end of the year, or at worst, the start of next year. Harden isn't as good as Santana, but he isn't too far behind. Andy LaRoche is a top 20 prospect and arguably the best 3b prospect. Considering I have Todd Walker, Aaron Boone, and Frank Thomas as my best options for my IF and Util Positions, I really could use LaRoche. It was a very tough decision, but I got a ton of talent back. As you maybe know, Liriano is said by everyone in the Twins organization to look very similar, if not better, than Santana at the same age. I think the trade hurts me a little bit this year (assuming Prior would come back and be healthy) but I think I'll come out the winner in this trade in the long run. I also agree with what you are saying about Valentin. I was offered Brian McCann for Rafael Soriano, but I'm hesitant on it. I really like Soriano as a setup man and I think by the end of the year, he'll be closer. I think between Lieberthal and Valentin, I should be fine.
