  1. 85Mil for 6 years. Where do we sign? That's just over 14 mil. Well worth it for one of the best pitchers in the league. That's only about 30 million more than the Red Sox gave just to talk to Mazusaka. Imagine how much they'd give for a 26 year old horse like Big Z.
  2. A couple more questions for those watching... What happened to Deng? 20 points in the first half and none in the 3rd quarter? Why do the Nuggets have all their scrubs (plus Smith) in to start the 4th quarter?
  3. Technical foul shot for what? I can't watch so I dont know...
  4. they're actually correct this time around. I don't think you could go wrong with either. Morneau had a hell of a season. It's pretty amazing how he turned it around. He had a .689 OPS (.274 OBP yuck) in April and in June and July he was a monster and ended up with some solid stats.
  5. Is Rapada pretty much Will Ohman? I'm hoping a Ohman, Izturis, and Novoa for Westbrook trade gets announced tomorrow. Probably would take more (in quality), but I can hope.
  6. Schmidt and Westbrook would be awesome. I would be more than satisfied going into the season with this rotation: Zambrano-Schmidt-Westbrook-Hill-Miller/Prior. If Prior can return back to form (2003) and Hill can continue to pitch how he did last year, then we'll have the best rotation in baseball. Trade Izturis, Dempster, and possibly Eyre and sign Lugo. 1) Soriano 2) Lugo 3) Lee 4) ARam 5) Barrett 6) Murton 7) Jones 8 ) DeRosa Not bad...I'd prefer Lugo leading off with Murton 2nd, Soriano 5th and Barrett 6th, but I think the Cubs promised Soriano he could leadoff. Please sign Schmidt!
  7. shut up Brian the more you guys quote it, the more times the link to his blog gets posted. wooohooo. soriano.
  8. Now that is hilarious. hahahaha
  9. My moustache still tastes of your testes!
  10. if anyone happens to be watching sportscenter...do u know if they've shown the highlights to the dolphins game yet? and i also like beer.
  11. And I'm sorry rjchapma for saying what I said. That was rude of me.
  12. just stop talking (writing, typing, whatever) Stop being a and listen to other peoples opinions whether they post statistics or revise there posts. Okay you can post your opinion, but quit overgeneralizing the thoughts/opinions of some people to the whole board. Some people don't like this deal or don't like how much we paid, but not everyone. You also make a lot of baseless statements. I doubt "we'll" be upset if Soriano plays up to his contract. We are all Cubs fans after all, and just want to see this team succeed and win a championship once every 100 years at least.

  14. You should meet my friend, Mr. Facts. Hmmm, Mr. Facts shows that out of 8 seasons for Drew, 4 of them were seriously hampered due to injury and 2 others were less than 140 games. That's what is known in the real universe as a player with injury problems. Minus breaking his wrist last year due to being HBP -- which can't really be attributed to being injury prone, I think -- he's been fairly healthy the last three years. Okay, well you can't just look at the past 3 years and ignore the first 5. Especially when last year he missed time (although a fluke injury). IIRC he was also injured some in 2005. Didn't miss a ton of time but had some sort of injury. I will say that he gets minor injuries fairly often, but 145 games of Drew > Soriano IMO. Without the broken wrist last year, I imagine he ends up between 140 and 150 games. I'm pretty sure I'm not alone in looking at 3 year trends rather than a whole career. But how can you look at a 3 year trend when you can't even look at one of the years? You can't just say if he didnt break his wrist he wouldn't have gotten hurt some other way. He's shown a tendency to get injured. He's gotten 500 ABs or more once in 8 years. Despite all this I would rather have Drew than Soriano, but I can see why JH would be worried to bank on J.D. staying healthy and saving his job.
  15. exactly right. theyre trying to find a random detail that makes soriano better 1 run. When in fact there's the differences in the contracts and the added flexibility lugo would have given us compared to soriano. oh wait i cant assume that lugos contract will be less than sorianos according to jjgman21. Silly me. I give you permission. Now incorporate Izturis's salary sitting on the bench and carry on. Not with Cleveland(Westbrook, Lee) and Boston(outfielders, Crisp, Pena? Manny?) looking for a defensive SS. Izturis for any of those players. Where can I sign?

  17. Well he reportedly met the BoSox offer. I think Hendry is more interested in Soriano for 2 reasons. One is because he views him as less of a risk. Hendry's job is on the line and if he signs Drew and he gets hurt for a substantial amount of time, he's screwed. For the record, I don't think Drew is injury prone anymore. At least not enough to make it not worth the risk. The 2nd reason is that Soriano's numbers are sexier to the casual baseball fan. The casual fan hears 40/40 and think he's god. Drew doesn't have crazy homerun or stolen base totals and therefore the average baseball fan doesn't value him as highly as someone like Soriano.
  18. I can't see Jones in CF. I can see Soriano in LF or Cf. Trading Jones and leaving Murton makes no sense, no LH bat in the lineup. Murton probably has more trade value for pitching than Jones does. We better not trade Murton. We need his cheap production in the lineup.
  19. It's on ESPN. Done Deal it appears.
