  1. What? How is he not the elite offensive player he once was? He had his best or second best season this year. Highest OBP of his career (.379) and 2nd highest OPS of his career (.878). Saying he isn't worth what it would cost in players and money may be a good argument, but saying he isn't the offensive power he once was is just a flat out lie.
  2. Ha ha, Bruce for the win. CT should apologize to Bruce, lol. i call for a str8 b& Yes, but first he should apologize for all nearly 9000 of his posts. And say it like he means it. CT; Be a man, and apologize to Miles. What did CT say that requires his apology?
  3. Their only other option would be Houston @ Oakland, and I can't see CBS showing that one anywhere outside of the Houston & Oakland markets. Good point.
  4. Ha ha, Bruce for the win. CT should apologize to Bruce, lol. i call for a str8 b& Yes, but first he should apologize for all nearly 9000 of his posts. Wow, did his posting rate fall off a cliff, he must have discovered girls Girls and/or alcohol. Altough, those two marvelous things don't stop some of us from posting. *coughOleMisscough*
  5. Yeah, and I still think they are very good at their jobs. Paxson has put together a team full of talent, they just aren't playing well together right now. I still say they are one of the top gm/coaches combo in the NBA. Does Ben Wallace have a headband on in your sig?
  6. Anyone know what game will be aired on CBS at 3 (in Chicago)? I'm hoping Dolphins vs Jags!
  7. Yeah. I'm not a fan of an offense with 3 major weak spots (Izturis, Pie, pitcher). Agree. Upgrade SS majorly and then I'd consider it.
  8. His numbers will probably improve coming to the NL. His cost to aquire is a lot more palatable than paying Gil Meche or Greg Maddux. Yea, coming to the NL will help, but you never know - I don't think that's a variable you can count on to come true. Secondly, I would actually rather pay/overpay to acquire Meche. In the playoffs, Westbrook's stuff wont win you a game, neither will Maddux' - at least with Meche you have a chance. I don't see how Meche would give us any more of a chance than Marmol, Mateo, or Marshall. He's no better than any of those three are now. I think too many people put too much stock into him because of that nice little early season fluke-of-a-winning streak he had a couple of years ago. Have you seen Meche pitch or read numerous scouting reports on him? From what I understand (and from seeing him pitch a couple times) he has very good stuff. I think the poster was saying Meche has the potential to pitch great on any given day, while he believes Maddux and Westbrooke only have the potential to be average or a little above average.
  9. Yeah, and I still think they are very good at their jobs. Paxson has put together a team full of talent, they just aren't playing well together right now.
  10. Jennings would definitely be. Westbrook may be (although it's close, I'm really not sure which one is better) but Igawa would be a better option than either of the other two because he can be signed rather than having to give up talent. Jennings is not coming to the Cubs unless they come down significantly with their demands for Hill, and Westbook is close enough to Igawa that it is not worth trading talent for him unless the deal was really good for the Cubs. Are you implying that Jennings is better than Westbrook???? Fan Graph Comparions Jennings is the pitching version of Mark DeRosa. His peripherals were not great this year and poor before. Hes never put up an ERA under 4.5. Westbrook has been significantly better than him. People will argue about him having to pitch half his games in Coors. Not saying I'm one of those people, but that's the response I got when I asked why people wanted Jennings so much.
  11. Because hill has the potential to be a stud #2 or #3 pitcher and Igawa should produce similar to Padilla, Meche, Lilly, etc...while probably costing less.
  12. So the Cubs could get him for Bob Howry, Donnie Veal, and Eric Patterson. I'd hardly qualify Eric Patterson as a stud prospect. Veal isn't even an A prospect either, although he is close. If they want STUD prospects, I don't think we have much of a chance. I'd imagine, however, that it wouldnt take 2 STUD prospects. I think giving them salary relief and providing them with a prime reliever and someone like Izturis and/or prospects, would be enough to do it.
  13. I could see them beating the Vikings and Dallas (I believe that's who they play week 17) if Dallas has the #2 spot locked up and nothing more to gain or lose and therefore rest their starters. That's definitely going to be a factor with some teams (Chicago, Dallas, San Diego, Indianapolis). Not saying all of those teams will rest players but the possibility exists. Yep, that's why I'm glad Miami plays Indi in Week 17.
  14. I could see them beating the Vikings and Dallas (I believe that's who they play week 17) if Dallas has the #2 spot locked up and nothing more to gain or lose and therefore rest their starters.
  15. Looks like you're pretty screwed. I honestly don't know what I'd do. I'd guess the Ravens D will do better than the Jets D and Palmer will do better than Leinart, but like you said, anything Palmer does will cancel out by losing it on defense. Maybe go with Leinart and hope the Ravens D absolutely dominates and Leinart lights up the Rams. I dont know, honestly... I see you have Trent Green. He's going against the Browns so he should do well, but he's iffy because he hasn't done much since returning from his injury. Anyways, I'd consider giving him the start.
  16. Ha... That would be freakin sweet, we just need to convince them Izturis can play OF. :-k Let's throw in Jones too! Want Dempster also? He's all yours.
  17. Very true. I think people forget this fact at times. Rex needs to stop trying to constantly go downfield. Way too many balls up for grab. Berrian is a good big play receiver but he isn't going to dominate 1 on 1 jump balls like Randy Moss (before he stopped caring) or TO (before he forgot how to catch a football) do/did.
  18. Let's go Miami (and Browns, Ravens, Packers, Chargers and Seahawks)!
  19. That rule is pretty ridiculous but you have to abide by them if you're Ben Wallace. He's playing like garbage and then he goes and pulls a move like that. I think Pax is starting to regret that signing a little bit now. Any chance Wallace gets traded?
  20. Agreed! You aren't supposed to offer your opinion. Only quote!
  21. haha exactly...and I've never seen a contract with incentives like that. I'd guess it would be at least a 5 or 6 million base. I'm not really in favor of paying bench players that much money. Anything above 3 and I wouldn't bother.
  22. If Floyd "truly" wants to play for the Cubs, then it shouldn't take "$9 mill" to get a deal done, especially with his injry concerns. Once and for all, the rumor didn't state that it would take 9 million guaranteed to sign Cliff Floyd. Go back and read the original post if you have to. It talked about incentives that could reach 9 million. There was no mention of what the base might be and no mention as to what the milestones would be that Floyd would have to reach in order for the incentive money to kick in. Okay, I'm just saying in no way do I want to potentially pay Floyd 9 mil. You don't know what those incentives are either. Maybe it's a 5 or 6 mil contract, in which case I still believe it's too much. I'm fine with Murton and Soriano at the corner outfield spots. I'm pretty sure he could get at least 7 or so from some team. GMJr and Pierre got a lot, and they are both pretty bad to mediocre players.
  23. I sure as heck couldn't  Yeah...I was always a much, much, MUCH better IF than OF. I never could get a quick read on the ball like most good outfielders could.
  24. I think we have enough talented injury prone pitchers. I wouldn't trade Pie for him straight up.
  25. I can't confirm anything but this guy I used to be in a bunch of fantasy leagues with was a pretty close friend with Floyd and told me that he really wanted to come finish his career in Chicago. He said he was frustrated with all the injuries he was dealing with and was contemplating retirement. The guy showed me tons of pictures he had with his wife and Cliff Floyd and I believe Floyd has made it obvious in the past that he wouldn't mind coming and playing for the Cubs. 9 mil for Floyd??? Yuck!
