  1. Theriot isnt a multi millionaire. Hes only there due to lack of options.
  2. People/things that cant be blamed for this game: Dusty Baker Mark Prior Corey Patterson Steve Bartman The Milwaukee Brewers Goats People who can be blamed for todays game: Your 2008 Chicago Cubs.
  3. This was my point when I said that Soriano and his salary is worse than if we had Murton in left plus an upgrade at SS and SP. Furcal + Murton + $5million > Soriano. Jeff Kunkel>Soriano
  4. 1908: Tinker to Evers to Chance 2008: Theriot to Derosa to The Dugout
  5. The Giants are attempting a rally. I'm sure the Brewers are shaking in their cletes.
  6. Ideal: Homer Good: Base Hit Acceptable: No Double Play
  7. Way to go out on a limb. Didnt Ryan Theriot state in an interview that he hates RBI?
  8. We've all seen this episode before. Our amazing offense getting stymied by yet another mediocre young pitcher.
  9. While I agree that the rotation could be an issue, I dont know how you get that from the first 3 games. Z and Demp both had very solid outings, and while Lilly was horrible, I doubt hed be the one replaced if it came to it. I would however go for a pitcher, as Marquis is sure to implode around that time regardless of how he does the first few months.
  10. They probably meant this season, as our top competition, not historically. Then youd have the Cards, but nobody really sees them as a threat at this point. Besides, if the poll was taken at Wrigley, then you have to take into account that there were probably a large number of trixies, as well as others who were just there for the overpriced, watered down beer and such who didnt really know where they were and just put Brewers because that was the other team currently on the field. I wouldnt be surprised if some people answered Packers.
  11. Its all the same. Their always walking around with fingerless gloves and asking for a second helping of gruel. Well gruel doesnt grow on trees.
  12. NO! Not Robert Hernandez. Wait, who's Robert Hernandez?
  13. Dempster avoids condemnation for now, and I get to drive home ina good mood.
  14. None of thought this little experiment was going to work, did we?
  15. I suppose I'll give it a shot. Where do I sign up? Right here? Well alright then.
  16. Id love to see a win today, but I'd settle for some signs of life.
  17. I have heard this expressed often. And I can't say that I agree. As long as Lou and Perry are reinforcing the message with Felix that he should only be swinging at pitches in the zone I think it is a great learning opportunity for him. "Kid, if they're going to pitch around you to get to the pitcher, I want you to let them do it, take your base, then let us decide what to do with the pitcher spot." It's actually a spot in the lineup where discipline can be taught relatively easily. I really think Pie is going to struggle with that sharp downward breaking pitch his entire career, much the way Soriano does. Obviously I hope not, but he sure does look terrible right now on pitches that break downward. I have observed also that his patience isn't consistent, like he's struggling to settle on an approach. Time and again Pie will take a borderline pitch, a fastball usually, and then swing at something way off the plate. I wouldnt expect him to anything remotely hittable today batting behind Dumpster who hasnt had an at bat since '05.
  18. Dont forget that while our pitchers are always at the top of the league in strike outs, we're also always at the top in BBs.
  19. In any case, we dropped the ball with him. Hopefully we can do for Pie what we couldnt for Corey, however, burying him in the 8 spot isnt going to help matters much.
  20. Because you're wrong maybe? Maybe? He's absolutely wrong. It's just an overreaction over a couple of games. We saw the same thing last year when people were convinced that despite the Cubs consistently outscoring their opponents, they were going to continue to lose all season long. We all saw how that turned out. It's hard to remember how long the season is when it just starts. It's a marathon folks, try not to get worked up about a couple of games. The problem is that the Brewers look tough this year. Fielder, Braun, Hart, Hardy, Weeks, all of those question marks from last year are a year older, and add Cub Killer Cameron into the mix in a month, and that could spell trouble. The Brewers may not be as fundamantally sound as some of the East and West teams, but I wouldnt want to let them jump out to a 10+ game lead again, especially when we have so many question marks of our own.
  21. Yeah, why hasn't Hendry grabbed one of those guys? The question is - Why hasn't the completely ineffective Hendry administration developed any guys like that? It has. The problem is,somewhere along the line, they decide that they want to be power hitters. Yeah, it all makes sense now. Corey Patterson didn't become Grady Sizemore because he didn't want to slap the ball into the ground enough. I know you're being sarcsstic, but you're not far off. Corey has the same talent, athleticism, and ability, but he was more worried about knocking every pitch into orbit than slap the ball on the ground or work the count in his favor.

  23. What gets me is how all the "experts" say out pitching staff is the best in the division. I just dont get it. Past Zambrano. our rotation is no better. Past Marmol, our pen is no better. All these NL Central teams are the same. powerful lineup, 1 ace, maybe a decent #2, and its downhill from there. What we need is a sparkplug, a Grady Sizemore, a Jose Reyes, a Jimmy Rollins. Felix Pie could be just that if he just had the patience. C-Patt was the same story. I just hope Felixs doesnt end the same way.
  24. You cant blame Lou completely. Everytime hes about to bench the little guy, he looks up at him with those puppy dog eyes and Lous heart melts.
