  1. The Tigers are mounting some offense vs. The 1906 Cubs, 1927 Yankees, and 1998 Yankees all rolled into 1. Nice.
  2. stuffing his face with bratwurst and cheese curds.
  3. A. Its not like Roberts was opposed to the deal. I dont see where your going here. B. Mediocre at best
  4. Good, now hopefully we can nail down a W so it wont suck as bad when Kyle :banghead: ing Lohse becomes the first pitcher in the division with 10 wins.

  6. Minnesota is hot, and fighting for first place. I wouldnt under estimate them.
  7. After taking out Soriano, it's the least they can do.
  8. I know I said this about the Cards going to Boston and Detroit, but the Brewers are about to go on a trip to Minnesot and then Arizona for 7, so hopefully they'll be taken care of there.
  9. Go Braves, Go Tigers.
  10. weather.com has isolated thunderstorms in the area until 9, when it turns to partly cloudy. Would they start the game that late, or should we expect a day/night double header tommorow?
  11. I think that's happened like once... Your probably right. I think it was Cook with Colorodo. The difference there being that The Rockies sucked because of injury. The Orioles may be above .500 for now, but evryone knows they wont be going anywhere any time soon, especially now that the Rays have burst out of the celler. Do the Orioles know that? Do they know it? Probably. Are they willing to admit it to their fans? Probably not. Harden apparently our top target, and the A's seem to be in a much better position than the O's.
  12. He's done what he had to do. The first month he was huge for us because the starting rotation was still finding its legs. The last month and a half, the starting rotation has been great for us, and the long man hasn't been needed very much. Lieber cannot really be used as any other role out of the bullpen consistently because of his huge splits. He's one of the least overall needed guys on the team, but he's a nice insurance policy back there. I actually thought it could have been a good idea to start the 5th with him on the mound. 4 IP 2 ER might have been as good as one could have hoped for from Marshall, and I like the idea of piggybacking with some of the fringe guys in the rotation and long relief. The funny thing is that hes been one of our more consistant relievers. While Wuertz, Cotts, and Howry are taking turns imploding on the mound, he given us quality pretty much every time hes come in in relief.

  14. Im surprised nobody started such a thread, but it seems like every time a starter for a bad team has a good start againt us, a thread pops up to trade for said starter. We seem to have a good reltionship with the Orioles organization, and despite all the garbage we've unloaded on them, they always seem to want more. Would Jeremy Guthrie be a good fit for our rotation if a Harden, Burnett or Sabathia deal doesnt happen? Guys like Murton, Cedeno, and Hoffpauir could end up being good fits for them. Obviously, Guthrie isnt an empty the farm system type of pitcher, but hes pushing 30, and he may be cheaper than any of the other guys on our radar.
  15. Milwaukee is a streaky team. Right now they're red hot, but the bottom can fall out without warning, especially with 7 road games coming up vs. Minnesota(the 1 team in baseball thats hotter than they are) and Arizona. The Demon Birds, on the other hand have been playing consistantly good ball since the begining, and show no signs of slowing, and thats with argueably the best player in the league injured and no pitchers anyones ever heard of. Now Phat Alberts coming back Thursday, and they're 4 games into their 6 game road trip in Boston and Detroit, which was supposed to be the beginning of their demise, and the worst they can do now is go 3-3. I don't see how you can draw that big a distinction between the chickadees and the drunks when they sit 1.5 games apart in the standings, and are actually both 2 of the better teams in baseball. They're both pretty darn good baseball clubs. We just happen to have found ourselves in one of the stronger divisions in baseball this year. If we want to win this thing, we're going to have to claw and scratch our way to it just like anyone else would have to. I don't see any 10-game margins in the standings any time soon, as some have predicted. Im just saying the Brewers are less likely to stay as hot. Right now, they're getting great production from guys like Branyan and Torres, who are less than likely to keep it up. Braun and Fielder are the only sure things on that team. Everyone else comes and gos on as they please. If the Cards do end up falling off, it will be due to pitching, not offense. They have a team full of gritty little pests, who surround a few power hitters, and the biggest power hitter of all is coming back in a few days. Dont expect the Royals to repeat last week. Theres really no reason to keep Cedeno on this team. We have 4 middle infielders in DeRosa, Theriot, Fontenot, and now Patterson. If we need another somewhere down the road, we could try Andres Blanco, who cant be any worse. The only reason they wont let him go is becuase he doesnt have an option, and some team will take him on. I say, let them have him. Right now, his only value to us is as a part of a package trade, and that value dwindles every time he does anything.
  16. That's a good point. If we can't make a play for him (probably unlikely), I'd rather see him leave the division, definitely. I suppose if we were to get an owner with deep pockets who wanted to win more than anything, maybe we could. Now if only such a man was interested in aquiring the Cubs...
  17. I know Im just as guilty as anyone else, but how come every time we lose 1 game, it feels like a 3 game losing streak around here?
  18. I just want him out of the Central. As much as I want him off the Brewers, I might rather him stay than go to the Cards or Astros.

  20. Makes the most sense - Hoff and Ward are pretty redundant. Yeah, who needs a pair of lefty power bats when you can have Ronny Cedeno.
  21. http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=765740 Not like its anything nobody expected, but good luck to the Brewers when the Yankees, Red Sox, Tigers, Angels, Mets, Philles, Mariners, Dodgers, and maybe even the Cubs and White Sox dog pile on him as soon as eligible. Dont count the Astros and Cardinals out either. Hes 3 healthy, productive months away from Zambrano money.
  22. Me neither. In hindsight, with 2 out the worst Edmonds could have done was what Murton did, and Murton would have been available in the 9th, and I would have rather him than Cedeno or Blanco in that situation.
  23. The problem is, once we loaded the bases, I was sure that we were going to capitilize. I was all braced for extra innings at least. Of all people, Ronny was due. Not so much. The I was expecting a Kosuke single to drive in 2, and then E-Patt could have righted his wrong doing. Obviously, neither of those things happened. Kosuke struck out, and E-Patt wasnt given a chance. I know Lou loves the lefty/righty matchups, but wouldnt you have rather had a guy at the plate who may be a lefty, but knows that he screwed up big time with an error vs. a guy whose been incompetent at the plate?
