  1. So why is it that Murton can be brought up and down infinitely, yet Cedeno is apparently out of options? Murton must have gone up and down as many times, if not more than Ronny.
  2. They're dusting off John Lieber just in case hings go wrong early on.
  3. The Padres are the only team that seems interested, but they dont have anything we need, that theyd be willing to send us for Murt. In the end, he'll probably be either part of a package deal or else a mercy trade for a few mid level prospects just to send him somewhere where he has a chance.
  4. I guess Id have to agree. refer to the startrs of Angel Pagans 2007 start, as wel as Mike Fontenot, Matt Murton, and Felix Pies big league starts. Even Cedeno started off pretty good when he first came up. We'll see if E-Patt and Hoff are the real deal.
  5. I dont know about this year, but maybe in the future. I cant see Edmonds being here past this year, and if anything, Reed Johnson might get a 1 year just while they wit for a replacement to mature. If Pie doesnt shape up, he could be our guy, or if nothing else, he could take over second in 2010. I would like to see him and Hoffpauir both stay in the bigs. Id take both over Cedeno, Fontenot, and Murton.
  6. Marshall definitely gave us some lightening in a bottle when he first came up last season. Were only asking for 2 quality starts here big guy.
  7. So is Yost dliberately trying to destroy his arm so nobody else wants him in the offseason?
  8. Any predictions as to the ridiculous contract Sheets signs with the Yankees this off season, before he pitches 5 mediocre outings and is DLd for the next 3 years?
  9. http://assets.espn.go.com/media/pg2/2001/1012/photo/s_chop_i.jpg Ben Sheets vs. Jo Jo Reyes Could this be the game where Sheets finally breaks a nail or stubs a toe or smudges his mascara or something?
  10. Gotta love the off days. Why didnt Root Beer make the list?
  11. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080623&content_id=2990452&vkey=news_chc&fext=.jsp&c_id=chc So is that essentially extended spring training for Hill and Pie?
  12. There are few things cooler than a full double rainbow. A double sweep of the White Sox would definitely be among those things.
  13. Why, because he's only 3rd all time in career HRs for switch hitters (behind only Mickey Mantle and Eddie Murray)? IMO, he will easily get elected to the HOF. Of course he will. 400+ HRs, .300+ career avg, .950+ career OPS, not to mention that he was the offensive heart and soul of the entire Braves dynasty that was known for pitching.
  14. The thing about the Brewers is, Sabathia is the only available pitcher I could see making enough of an impact on their pitching staff to make a difference, and with other suiters, who are more likely to give him a contract, I cant see the Brewers bidding too high if they wont be able to keep him around. As it is, it's doubtful that they'll be able to afford Sheets next year.
  15. Reed is indeed going on the DL, which could be a blessing in disguise. Whiel we all love, or at least like Reed, this could give Patterson and Hoffpauir more chances, and if they can make the most out of it, they could be some nice bargaining chips. Personally, Id rather move Hoff and keep Patt. Nothing against Hoff, but if Patt can step up, he could very well be our starting second baseman in 2010.
  16. That was an amazing weekend of baseball, and after our most frusterating series of the year. 2 steller starting pitching performances, and 1 adequate one. I'll take it. Now lets sweep the McFailures away next week.
  17. Liebers been arueably our most consistant arm out of the bullpen, aside from Marmol. I dont know why Lou doesnt use him more. In all honesty, if Lou has so many relievers hes cant trust to do anything, we need to get some new guys in there. He cant just work the same guys to death because the rest are in his dog house.
  18. If your looking to turn a 6 run lead in the 9th into a thriller, Bob Howrys your guy.
  19. lets not turn this thing into a thriller. Bring in Marmol.
  20. I wouldnt worry too much about Dempster. He has <100 pitches, and he'll be on a short leash here.
