  1. God Im sick of making aged pitchers look like their former selves. Maybe Ramon Martinez wants a go. Does Jose Rijo want to try another comeback? Is Teddy Higuera still alive?
  2. Our guys are definitely putting the bat on the ball, its just ending up in the wrong place.
  3. where has this man been all our lives? Everything he does looks absolutely effortless. Surely, we can get a few measily runs off of a 68 year old reptilian creature to get him his first win as a Cub.
  4. OK boys, it would be juts plain un-American to let someone as ugly as Johnson beat someone as beautiful as Harden, so just get him his 3 runs, and he'll do the rest.
  5. How would that work for a monitary standpoint? The jays want to move Burnett to someone willing to pick up a significant chunk of his salary. Hes making 10 mil I believe. Meanwhile, Marquis is making 7 or 8 mil, so I dont see the Jays motivation there, unless we plan on picking up a big chunk of AJs salary plus Marquis'.
  6. That would be a lot of gritty little white boys. Wed be like the early '90s Phoenix Suns of baseball.
  7. I suggested that a while back, before we got Harden, trade for Burnett and Eck, and people thought that it was the craziest thing theyd ever heard. Theres a lot worse you could do at the end of your bench then David Eckstein, like, oh I dont know, Ronny Cedeno. Also, the way it sounds, Toronto has wanted Eckstein gone for a whil now, so I bet if we offered Cedeno plus a few mid level prospects, we could get him.
  8. This is snipped from MLB.com, from after the Mesa game, so unless Lou is planning to surprise everyone, it looks like Adolpho will be finishing his rehab assignment as planned.
  9. I dont know if Id prefer a series split, or for one of them to sweep. Yeah, if we win the next 4, and either the Cards or Brewers sweep, then we dont gain any ground on 1 team, but we push the other to 6 or 7 back, depending on who gets swept, but if we win the next 4, and they split, then were up by 4 on the Cards and 5 on the Brewers. I think Id prefer to keep one close, and have the other fall down a few rungs. A few weeks ago, Id have hoped for teh Cards to sweep becuase the Brewers are the bigger threat, but now, I think they're pretty equal. I guess the important thing is the Cubs winning the next 4.
  10. Is it really a good idea? Remember what happened last time he was rushed back. Didnt start off so well. Too bad were not playing the Giants or the Badres. If we were, that could have been considered his rehab assignment. It's not a good idea at all, but I'm guessing it happens anyway. Its kind of like staying out until 3 when you have to work at 7. You know its going to lead to no good, but your going to enjoy it anyway.

  12. Good. Now would the thread starter kindly change the title to Wood Pobably Not Heading to the DL.
  13. I wonder if they put him on a bus to Phoenix.
  14. It seems like they have alot of guys playing there that should be at a higher level, but I feel the same way about Mesa. Sure, Contreras, Hoorelbeke and Jones should probably be in Boise but I'm not exactly sure who you'd move up from Peoria. With a name like "Hoorelbeke", you better be good, ot your just asking for trouble.
  15. If Will Carroll shuts up, there's still the seemingly ever-gaining Brewers and Cardinals to make sure you can't enjoy the season in peace. They always seem to be gaining, yet they never seem to catch up, which is impressive, as the biggest lead we've had was 4.5.
  16. Yes. Yes they could.
  17. I dont think God would do that to us. May this be the last we hear of this.
  18. It would be nice, but I wouldnt bet on it.
  19. Need 1: Starter. Rich Harden, check Need 2: Alfonse Soriano: See you Thursday Need 3: Bullpen Arm: Chad Gaudin, check Need 4: bench bat: Once Soriano returns, we'll have plenty of bench depth with Ward, Fontenot(if he keeps it up), and Edmonds/Johnson.
  20. I'm pretty sure that no matter what happens, he'll play at least 1 game in Iowa, probably 2. He needs to get some of those Patteronesque 3 pitch strike out and dropped routine flys out of his system.
  21. Hopefully, its just a blister, and he'll take a short vacation, and Eyre can take his place, and then when he returns, he can take Harts place. But just in case, maybe we should see if we have anything the Rockies may want.
  22. I always thought the guy got hated on a bit too much for a utility guy. He has been a pleasant surprise as of late, but then again, so was Ronny Cedeno a few months ago, so we'll see what happens. Also, it seems as though he and Theriot are at their best when in the lineup together, kind of like they're feeding off eachother. No, he wont be a starter anytime soon, but if he can manage to keep up what hes doing, he could earn himself a starting job in a few years when DeRosas contract is up.
  23. D-Backs, meet Rich Harden. I have a feeling your not going to like him. And tommorow will be a perfect opportunity to introduce the new bad ass facial hair.
