  1. What do his season stats look like? Back of envelope calculations say: 36 AB - .500/.558/1.083/1.641 - 4 BB, 8 K    Wow... see ya in September, kid. Hes leading the PCL in OPS, home runs and RBI Or we could bring him up now and kick deadweight Gathright to the curb.
  2. Mets just walked off on the Brewers 5-4.
  3. Jake Fox 2-4 with yet another home run.
  4. If you were to go to WikiPedia and type in "Ugly Win", youd probably get a full replay of this game.
  5. Hopefully only the 1st half of my prophecy is true. Marmol please.
  6. I call we score 2, and Gregg coughs up 3 the next innign and the board is crashed by the influx of Marmol for closer posts.
  7. The conversation started when I said that if Micah hit 37 HRs this year it'd be the same thing as what Ludwick did. I'm not sure if you saw the beginning of the conversation or not. Just my old theory that if you take a minor league star like Hoff or Jake Fox and play them every day, eventually they'll become a serviceable major league player. Unforunately, with a team in contention, you dont have time to be patient, so they usually end up on the bench or back in the minors. I know the theory didnt quite pan out for Jason Dubis, but still.
  8. Because that would be the same situation as Ludwick. No not mad but Ludwick was a second round pick with a lot of promise. I do not believe Hoffpauir was drafted in the first 10 rounds. All this points out is he was highly rearded and not some undrafted player...Barden was highly touted before he had the hernia issues as well. The Cards have been good about looking at players that others have neglegted to care about. Ludwick had a great year in the minors before the Cards got him. But come on. Nothing in this description suggests that Ludwick would become the hitter he's become. It could have been projected that he'd hit like 08 Ankiel or maybe a little better than that, but the level he's on right now comes completely out of nowhere. You are right. My only point was he had talent early on that we are seeing today. In no way am I saying I knew he would be this good. For what it's worth, Micah's and Ludwicks raw power grades have always been about the same. Ludwick had more athleticism and was a more polished overall hitter than Hoffpauir was. Either way before 2007 Ludwick had a .750 or so OPS the two years prior in AAA as a 26 and 27 year old. Prior to 2008 Micah had a .850 or so OPS in AAA as a 26 and 27 year old. In his age 28 season Ludwick had an OPS of about 850 between AAA and MLB. In his age 28 season Hoffpauir had an OPS over 1100 in AAA and over 900 in limited MLB experience. In his age 29 season Ludwick was on the Cardinal Juice and had a .966 OPS in the majors with 37 homers. Ludwick had previously never had an OPS over .900 for a full season (combined in a season between any level). In his age 29 year season what will Micah do? Really it's nearly an identical story if Micah hits like Ludwick did. It's not hard to see the parallels. The difference being that Micah doesnt have an everyday spot on his teram, whereas Ludwick did.
  9. 2 innings left. Hopefully our pen can keep it where it is.
  10. Of course they'll waste it. Its there thing that they do.
  11. Well, 3 more inning to score some runs, and the Cards pen aint that good. On the flip side, we probably have to rely on at least 3 innings from our pen, 2 of which will be guys not named Marmol.
  12. I really want Ryan Ludwick to break his leg in multiple places.
  13. Considering our offense has no interest in scoring again, congratulation on PJ Walters gettin the W in his first major league start.
  14. Random Fact of the day: Adam Dunns line thus far .346/.541/.769 3 HR 11RBI 11BB. GO CUBS!
  15. Im sure that Cardinals announcers are commending this kid for getting out of the jam, but we know better.
  16. When the bottom of the lineup loads the bases with 0 out with the top of the order coming up traditionally, you should come out of the inning with more than 1 run.
  17. Game Time! Lets make this one quick and painless. Im relying on some good updates today.
  18. I dont think he'll be cheap at all. If anything, he might be more expensive. By the time hes ready to sign, teams will be in need of pitching, and he could demand a 2 year deal.
  19. To be honest, IM not really worried about the pen. They'll be fine. Granted, Id rather a better lefty than Cotts, but if Cotts keepd up what hes doing, it will happene sooner or later. The offense on the other hand, maybe. The only guys that I can really count on to produce what they did last year are Soriano, Ramirez, and Theriot. -Soto-He could have a sophmore slump. He woulsnt be the first player. Also, the 7th spot isnt a good place for a hitter of his capabilities if he ever wants to see a hitable pitch in a time when it counts -Fukudome is red hot now, but he was last year around this time -Derrek Lee seems to keep up his steady decline, and while I dont doubt he'll end up a serviceable hitter, you need more than a serviceable hitter in the 3 spot -Bradley-not off to a great start. Already getting banged up. How long before the "Why didnt Hendry sign Adam Dunn" posts -Fontenot-Never could hit lefties. I still think we could have kept DeRosa and been able to sign Bradley. Maybe if Hendry werent so eager to jump all over super sought after free agent Aaaron Miles. I understodd considering moving DeRosa when it would have meant a3 team deal for Peavy, but other than that, not that smart, especially on his contract year, when youd think hed be trying to 1 Up his career year.
