  1. St. Louis doesnt look particularly stoppable at this point in time.
  2. Lilly killed himself with his own fielding though. You should be able to make 1 little mistake when you supposedly have one of the best offenses in the NL behind you.
  3. Hopefully Carlos punches someones lights out before this games over.
  4. Im sure that Detroit is going to want top pitching prospects for anything we trade, and depite the fact that a lot of Cubs fans seem to think that Sean Marshall is the cornerstone for any trade, it's simply not the case. He would be nice though.
  5. offense taking another day off I see? I wish I could do that whenever I wanted and make a ridicuous 6-8 figure salary.
  6. Is Dave Bush really going to no hit the Phillies?
  7. Whose also injured and taking up a roster spot
  8. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20090423&content_id=4395458&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb Does Lou not realise what hes doing to the bench? With Hoff or Johnson to get his starts, that leaves one of them as the only respectable option off the bench. The way Jake Fox is doing in Iowa, and the time leading up to it, theres no harm in bringing him up. We can not only see if he's for real, but could possibbly get some trade interest in him. Theres really no point in keeping a guy active whose not going to see much playing time. In a perfect world, hed have been DLd over a week ago, had time to rest and hopefully be on his way off it in the next few days.
  9. With Bradley essentially inactive, leaving only 3 bench players and a backup catcher on the roster (and one of the bench players being your only MI backup) that's really putting yourself at a disadvantage offensively. Can Gathright be outrighted to AAA without being waived? If Jake Fox keeps tearing the cover off the ball, something will have to be done.
  10. What the hel team is going to give up anything for the guy when all they have to do is wait a few days and get him for league minumum? Good job Hendry. Good Job. Maybe the next move will be bringing up Jake Fox and DFAng Reed Johnson for no good reason when theres clealrly a player with no use to the team on the roster.
  11. Maybe he is misused, but if he was going to be all that good to begin with, he might not suck so horribly in those situations. He is misused. Lou never brings him into those situations when you need walk walk multiple batters in a row, and thats his specialty. If you bring him in when your trying to get guys out, thats just foolish.
  12. Im sure Milton will be OK. The worst case scnerio is a .260 avg and an OPS in the mid .800s, but all the same, he needs to get going. he has a long trek ahead of him to get to that Mendoza Line. They may want to consider a DL stint, as hes clearly nowhere near 100%.
  13. Maybe if they flopped Bradley and Soto in the lineup it would pump some life into one of them.
  14. Vizcaino was doing well. Yeah I suppose. Then again they're releasing him. Dont forget Gathright whose roster spot could be be used just as well on a houseplant.
  15. For this we gave up DeRosa? Im starting to miss Jacque Jones and Jeromy Burnitz just a little bit. Just take your damn suspension already.
  16. Bradley looks like an old man out there. Cliff Floyd moved better than this clownbag. I'm sick of him already. If we wanted bad defense, no hitting, and a bad attitude, why not just sign Moises Alou or Jeff Kent. DeRosa, Wood, and Cedeno>>>>>>>>>>>>>Bradley, Gregg, and Miles Adam Dunn would have sufficed. Hes defense is supposedly a liability, but could he look any worse than Bradley has out there?
  17. These idiots are blooping and bobbling us to death, and Milton is like having Cliff Floyd out in right.
  18. What? Come on now. When I saw that Banedon posted this, I was pretty much speechless. Harden has been great for us, for the most part. I seriosly believe that when is is shaky and has trouble with control its because whether hes healthy or not, he knows that shoulder can start giving him trouble at any time, and hes trying to be extra cautious.
  19. I can understand with guys like Hawkins or Sosa or Howry(I guarantee he gets the Hawkins tratment when the Giants come to town) who left a bad taste in fans mouths for one reason or another, but with random role players, its pointless. I like to think that Woody and DeRo wont get booed when they come to town in June, but theres always going to be some drunken imbecile.
  20. The we need a lefty mentality is part of the game, especially late in the game when a tough lefty comes to the plate. However, when your lefty cant get lefty batters out any better than he can get righty batters out, its pointless.
  21. BEST...MOVE...EVER Release a guy whose done just fine AND is owed like 5 million to boot(especially when our soon to be owner cant seem to afford the team) to bring up our unproven talent. Meanwhile someone else picks up Vizcaino for league minimum, and if Shark ends up sucking, he goes back to Iowa, and we probably bring up Chad Fox.
  22. All Star voting is under way http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/index.jsp?c_id=chc Ramirez, Soriano, Fukudome, Theriot, and Soto(despite the rough start) all got my votes.
  23. Iowa scored a quick 5 in the 1st. No Jake Fox in the lineup today though.
