  1. I agree about Teahen, but Huff, Atkins, and Wiggignton are all guys who have no future with their teams, that are more than likely going nowhere this year, so even if they could get a few respectable pitching prospects, theyd probably be willing to move these guys. Exactly what pitching prospects are the Cubs giving up to get any of the 3 not named Teahen? When a team is down and out for a 3b like the Cubs are right now, what do you honestly believe the asking price would be? As much as Atkins isn't needed on the Rockies, if I'm Colorado, I just watched Atkins' trade value sky rocket over the last 24 hours. They already pillaged the Cubs for Marquis. "Hey Hendry, I'll give you this garbage reliever that you really do not want for this starting pitcher that is guaranteed to gobble up 200 innings next year. But, you need to pay for most of the starting pitcher's salary." "Duh, okay!" Colorado sure learned their lesson on that one, eh? If I'm them, I'm holding out for Vitters for Atkins. Oh, and the Cubs will need to pick up the remainder of Atkins' contract. The Rox have been actively pushing Atkins to make room for Stewart. We could probably get him for somethiglike Heilman, Hart, and a low level prospect. Same for the 2 O's. If we gave up Heilman, just who would you replace him with? There really is noone else in our system to put in the bullpen outside of Ascanio, and seeing how Fox was called up before he was, Im thinking they want Ascanio to continue starting. Im sure we could find some replacement for his 5.14 ERA and 1.43 whip. Id start with Stevens.

  4. Teahen would be a good aquisition, but now that the Royals seem to be for real, especially in their sickly division, they're going to want a decen return, especislly since hes their starting 3B with Gordon out.
  5. We could always pump Bobby Scales with every PED imaginable and ride it out until he gets tested and pay him a few million under the table.
  6. So say the 4-6 weeks go by and were down by 5 games at the ASB. Doe you really thing that either the Brewers or the Cards are the type of teams that can run away with the division in that time frame, because I dont.
  7. Id take Durham at 2nd and platoon Font and Freel at 3rd, but I really dont see Lamb or Ensberg as upgrades over anything.
  8. I agree it is probably Freel. I actually liked the Russell Branyon suggestion also. However, a trade for Cantu would not decimate our farm system, it is already ranked at the bottom of baseball. So the trade would really really decimate our system. Why would we want Branyan when we could probably get Wiggington for the same price, and Wiggignton can play both corher infield and outfielod positions? I agre that if its 4-6 week thing, they're not going to make a deal for someone like Cantu, Atkins, or Huff, but Wiggington could be usefull as another utility guy down the road.
  9. Yeah, people tend to over react around here, this the were screwed, seasons over, 2008 was our year stuff. I really wish that people would take time out to think to realise that we still have a lineup capalble of 4-6 runs an night and a pitching staff capable of holding the opposition to less.
  10. Im betting that teams with a guy theyre trying to move have already contacted Jim Hendry.
  11. Im talking realistic options here, guys who could potentially be traded. I guess I'll go with Atkins over Huff for the simple fact that the Rox really want to move him to make room for Ian Stewart and hed be relatively cheap.
  12. The thing about Hendry is even if he ends up grossly over pying, he'll get his guy if needed Ankiel was actually DLd today, or maybe it was yesterday. ok 15 days is still a whole lot better than possibly 8 weeks Yeah, too bad Aramis is on the 8 week DL. What are you talking about, obviously he will go on the 15 day DL because 60 would be too much esp if he heals faster. That doesnt mean he would be ready at the end of the 15 unlike Ankiel who wouldnt be ready to go for the next few games. Hell it could very well be longer if there is more damage in the shoulder that the Xrays pick up. Which is why we need to make a trade, and whenever Aram is ready to come back they can figure out the next roster move from there.
  13. Pedro Martinez ? Had a Jon Miller moment. still, it hasnt been a good week for the Ramirezes of the baseball world.
  14. Come to think of it, this hasnt been a Ramirez friendly week. Aramis dislocates his shoulder Manny gets busted for roids Alexei loses his starting job Pedro still doesnt have a job Hanleys wrist is probably still sore.
  15. The thing about Hendry is even if he ends up grossly over pying, he'll get his guy if needed Ankiel was actually DLd today, or maybe it was yesterday.
  16. Hes 27 in AA. Doesnt exactly make me want to stab my eyes or bang my head.
  17. It didn't seem relatively cheap at the time. I wasn't real high on Mitre, but was very high on Pinto and Nolasco. I'm afraid they'll want a similar type package (or more) for Cantu and it'd be hard for us to deliver that. Kevin Hart, Jose Ascanio, and Jeff Stevens would be a similar package to that. Its giving up a lot, but if its necessary its necessary. Anyway, unless Ramirez is expected to miss the season, I dont expect them to go aftr Cantu at a price like that. One of the 3 Orioles or Garrett Atkins would be a lot cheaper. We could probably get one of them for Aaron Heilman and Kevin Hart or something similar. Maybe the O's would take Jake Fox and Kevin Hart.
  18. When it comes to the Marlins, nothing off limits for the right prospects. Theyd probably go for some combination of: Ascanio/Stevens/Gaub/Archer/Tony Thomas/Colvin/Mitch Atkins/Wellington Castillo/Caridad They'll never go for the late 20's prospects like Jake Fox and Kevin Hart. Remember, we did get Juan Pierre for what seemed like relatively cheap at the time, especially considering a lot of teams were shoing a lot of interest in him.
  19. Ownership crap. I forgot that dildos still fishing around in his couch for a few extra million.
  20. That might not be a bad idea. Basically, you have a Font/Freel platoon at 3rd and Ray at 2nd. Ray isnt going to be Aram, but he'll be better than Font/Freel/Miles/Scales.
  21. If we offer up Vitters and/or Colvin, probably. Thats like saying if we offer up a brand new BMW and/or a half eaten Big Mac Seriously though, I wouldnt trade Vitters for a rent player, but he is arb eligible, and the Marlins might be inclined to trade him before the time comes.
  22. Is a blockbuster built around Marshall, Vitters, and a whole mess of other stuff for Peavy and Kouzmanoff a possibility?
  23. Cantus by far the best option, with the Orioles trio and Atkins the most realistic. Im betting that once they find out what Aramis' status is, hendry will get to work. Even if Its just a 6 weeks thing, I wouldnt be opposed to Wiggington since he can play all around the field and be of use down the line. Wigginton would make Miles that much more unnecessary. I'd be fine with him or any of the O's trio. Cantu will likely cost too much. We might be able to dump some MiL pitching (Hart/Adkins/Wells/Stevens/Gaub/Archer - maybe one-two of those) to get Beltre. I just wish Durham played third base. We could probably get any of the 3 O's for Hart, Atkins, Jake Fox, and the PTBNL they owe us for Rich Hill.
