  1. You dont get it, they dont need to trade him. Its not about money. Its not about a fire sale. Its about the Jays wanting to stock themselves with these top prospects in hopes of being able to compete with the Yankees and Red Sox in the future, and Halladay is the tool to get it done.
  2. if there were such a thing as clutch hitting, Id chalk it up to a lack of it.
  3. If true, moneterily, the only NL teams I could see swinging it are the Phillies, Mets, and maybe the Dodgers. Wells contract is a mess and a half and I cant see the Cards or Brewers having the finances for it. Pretty much. If taking Wells is a condition for getting Halladay, the Cards and Crew can just forget it. Wells' contract is massively back loaded. Vernon just isn't that good, and that contract could really cripple a mid/small market teams financial flexibility. Asking a team to take that on might be asking too much, IMO. I'm sure Wells won't be a condition to a Halladay deal simply because you've now made Halladay's trade value diminish immensely. No team is going to take on an extra $100 million for 1 1/2 years of Halladay. The only way this would work is for the Jays to take back a bad contract (less than Wells) and get prospects, which would be pointless. There would be a better chance if they made Rios a condition in a Halladay deal, but it still wouldn't be very likely. Keep in mind, the Jays dont need to deal Halladay, but they're taking offers. They know a lot of the interested parties, such as Angels, Dodgers, Mets, and Phillies have money to spare. This might make the injury depleted Mets a pretty good fit, not only would they have the best 1-2 pitching combo since Maddux and Glavine but they also get an outfielder who might be able to refind himself on a new team.
  4. yeah, the fact is, theres no reason to sign role players like that when you have similar or better players in the minors, IE Blanco>Miles, Fuld>Gathright, Hill>Bako, and if they dont pan out, you can easily trade for those kind of players, or else dip back into the minors for the next guy.
  5. Marquez Smith is really thriving in Tenesee, and Clevengers starting to get the hang of AAA.
  6. I wonder if we could send them some relievers for Barmes if they land Sanchez. why do you have such a hard on for barmes? -we need a middle infielder who can hit. -we dont have a lot of money to spend -Brames is a middle infielder who can hit. -Barmes makes 1.6 mil for the season, which is halfway over

  8. BUT THERE IS NO BALANCE?!? HOW ARE WE EVERY GOING TO BEAT RH PITCHING? Lord only knows........... 04/06 - 07/08 AB R H 2b 3b HR RBI BB SO BA OBP SLG OPS BABIP P/PA IsoD RBI% vs Left 583 61 144 36 3 13 61 62 116 0.247 0.327 0.386 0.713 0.289 3.73 0.080 0.137 vs Right 2209 277 545 98 8 77 263 228 497 0.247 0.320 0.403 0.723 0.286 3.91 0.074 0.167 All pitchers 2792 338 689 134 11 90 324 290 613 0.247 0.322 0.399 0.721 0.287 3.87 0.075 0.160 I guess we're just not very good against pitchers.
  9. Maybe sending our top prospect to a team who seems to get in a game a week wasnt a great idea.
  10. If true, moneterily, the only NL teams I could see swinging it are the Phillies, Mets, and maybe the Dodgers. Wells contract is a mess and a half and I cant see the Cards or Brewers having the finances for it.
  11. Id rather have him on the Brewers than the Cards. Im still not fully sold on Gallardo as a legit ace, and even if he is that still leaves the Brewers with only 2 good pitchers. As for the Cardinals, if they have Carpenter, Doc, Wainwright, and Lohse and Piniero keep their pixie dust, they will not be fun.
  12. If the Rockies do get Sanchez, Id love to see if we could get ahold of Barmes. I dont know why they're trying to replace him personall. Id love to have his .282/.324/.482 and 10 home runs toward the end of our lineup, or even higher up. Maybe the plan is to convert Barmes to 3rd after they move Atkins, but I thought Ian Stewart was next in line for that job.Barmes is making 1.625 mil and arb eligible next season, and at that price, there will be no shortage of interst in him, so Hendry better get on the horn about him if the Rox land Sanchez. Very affordable and exactly what we need.
  13. I hope this doesnt take them out of the Halladay hunt making the Cardinals the top candidate.
  14. Oh my God, stop. Mark Mulder hasn't been good in 15 years. And sometimes you take a chance on guys like this if they come cheap. I still remember back when the Cards aquired him for Haren. I thought we were screwed.
  15. The Indians continue their march toward Bryce Harper. They were up 9-2 early on vs. the White Sox, but its since a 10-8 ballgame in the 6th with 2 on and 0 out. Are the White Sox really this good or the Indians just this bad.
  16. Id have to assume that Bradley would be 6th, so its at least worth it to see if batting between Ramirez and Bradley could be beneficial to Soriano.
  17. Despite the fact that they're in the AL, I hear the Angels are a pretty strong contender.
  18. Makes one wonder if a 3 way deal could happen, or at least Rockies get Sanchez from the Pirates then we could try to get Barmes from the Rockies. What would it take to get Barmes from the Rox? They dont really need any position players. Would Marshall straight up for Barmes be fair?
  19. SMart move. extra guy in the pen, and have the starter ready when needed.
  20. Im all for the Brewers today. Assuming we can handle the Cardinals, I cant see the Brewers taking more than 1 game from the Dodgers if that.
  21. Honestly, they may as well DL Soto and bring someone up. If hes going to miss the Cards series anyway, after that, hed just miss the Nationals series and then 1 game in the Phillies series. The again, we alsready have an extra position player, so we'll see what happens.
  22. Id rather have Carp go against Harden so we can immediately chalk it up as a loss but have the clear advantage in the rest of the matchups, unless they manage to aquire Halladay in the next few days, but with the Cubs offense, you never know.
