  1. Thats what happens when you get one of Billy Beanes old pitchers. You may as well but a used Mercedes off of a guy in a powder blue leisure suit.
  2. Catcher is a need with Soto out until midway through August. But the question is, is there 1 out there that is good enough to be brought in for a month?
  3. This has not beem a great week for our top pitching prospects, but Casey defintiely got hit the hardest of the bunch.
  4. I suppose if we looked under enough cardboard boxes in random allys we may come across Paul LoDuca.
  5. Im surprised nobodys mentioning this, but why are we doing this, unless they think Sotos injury could be more serious than reported. Granted a Koyie Hill/Robinson or Clevenger catching tandum isnt steller, but if Geos out 2-3 weeks, I think we could survive with it, rather than deal for a guy who would be needed for only 2-3 weeks.
  6. Why are 2 teams in the same division, both theoretically in contention doing such a trade? Kind of like us sending oh, I dont know Ryan Theriot to the Brewers for JJ Hardy. The best part is the Mets and Braves playing tonight.
  7. A healthy Cub team playing to near their abilities blows this Cardinal team away. And weve been waiting for that all season. Hasnt happened. I do expect to split this series, but The Cards still show no sings of going anywhere. Just because they arent over paying a bunch of undeserving players doesnt mean they cant take this division.
  8. I imagine they will win it all again this year. It's been a few years since they took a team of little leaguers with Albert to the title. Albert Pujols or not they've got no chance against a real team such as the Dodgers. With Wainwright and Carpenter (assuming both stay healthy) they've certainly got a chance against the Dodgers. I fully expect the Dodgers to aquire a fron end pitcher in the next month, but either way, the Cardinals do stand a chance against the Dodgers. Maybe not a great one, but a chance.
  9. Carps gone, but who cares. Cubs aint scoring 5 against anyone, and whose to say they're done scoring. Maybe the Cards are just the better team. At least the Cubs get to keep their mystique, and cant nobody take that away. If you want championships, go become a Red Sox fan.
  10. Hardens over 100, so hopefully we get the good bullpen and some competant offense the rest of the way.
  11. Problem is now, Carpenter is on pace to pitch 8 innings easy, and we wont do crap against Franklin.
  12. If Im a manager, I fine my pitchers for pitching to Pujols. Seriously, why?
  13. Come on Reed, make me care that you back on the team.
  14. I know Im late on this, but go D Lee! Too bad he'll be probably DLdsoon-you can only carry that many guys on your back for so long before it gives out.
  15. Next time Billy Beane doesn't want much for a guy, we should probably begin to wonder. (Not that I wouldn't still take the deal). The day Justin Ducherer gets off the DL, Billy will land somebodys farm system for him before he returns to the DL to stay.
  16. Lets place no blame on Harden here. Just throw him on the scrap heap along with every other ex-A's pitcher.
  17. Astros just claimed him. For the most part, theres no point going out and aquiring a guy who may or may not be better than Chris Robinson.
  18. Looks like Rich Harden wasted no tiem giving up an insurmountable lead* I know its just 1 run, but come on now, Cubs offense vs. Carpenter, and we all know Rich isnt done giving up runs for the afternoon.
  19. Agreed. With the All-Star break coming up they wouldn't need Hart for another start before then anyway. The extra bullpen arm could come in handy with Harden starting tomorrow and the double-header on Sunday. Gets them the 7th reliever while maintaining a 11 man staff. if nothing else, it buys them time to decide what to do about Soto.
  20. Dont be silly. That would be too sensible for someone like Lou.
  21. Brendan Ryan probably freakin' will. And Ray Lankford, Bernard Gilky, and Pedro Guerrero.
