  1. Its really not funny anymore. They have 3 starters with ERAs under 3.00. This shouldnt be hapening. Carpenter, as long as hes healthy doesnt surprise me, but Wainwright should be at bout 3.30 and Pineiro at about 4.45.
  2. Over at the Metrodome, Alexei Ramirez looks like he rolled his ankle on a slide into 2nd, and it looked pretty painful.
  3. Maybe him and Jackson are being traded to Toronto? :-)) Theyre headed to Pittsburgh for John Grabow and Ronny Cedeno.
  4. Just out of curiosity, why did Lemhieu get bumped to Peoria already over these guys?
  5. crap, Miles is 3-3, meaning he could weasel his way back up, unless of course hes traded. Gaub with another great inning. I hit and nothing else. And what is it again the Lou feels he needs?
  6. Isnt he a free agent? That will lower the demand Id think, but I dont think Toronto would give him away. Id be interested in giving them 1 of our pitchers in the minors and say Fox for him though. Scutaro only makes 1.1 mil for the eason, meaning he only has about 500K left, so hed be a great target. I know the Twins have shown interest in him, as did the Giants before they guy Sanchez. Scuraro is a guy who we could probably get for Fox+a prospect/PTBNL. If Lou really wants a loogy, they could broaden the deal for Scott Downs, although Im all for trying Ryan or Gaub.
  7. Sam Fuld isnt in Iowas lineup tonight, so he could already be on his way to Wrigley.
  8. Cashner went 5 innings gave up 1 run, unearned with 4 BB, 4 K and 3 Hits. Looking good.
  9. As long as the ball doesnt make its way out of the infield, I guess it could work.
  10. Im telling you, take away Gallardo and Hoffman and you have the Nationals, who appear poised to sweep them in their own house. I bet theres a whole lot of booing goin on.
  11. I guess the spark will be back. Nothing against Reed, but with all the injuries weve been dealing with, I think we can get by without him for a month.
  12. Im actually starting to really like Fukudome again, and that would be a painful outfield. Even when hes in his worst slump, Kosuke saves us a lot of runs with his glove. If it were Bradley instead of Fuku, Id be all for. Besides, are you sure this was even rumor or spec or just some goofball caller?
  13. Did Reed leave the game just because of Lous lefty/righty OCD or was there another reason?
  14. Just checked the score for the 1st time, and I have to say, Im very pleased with what I see.
  15. Nope, you've evaluated that one poorly. I'd suprised if we see him again prior to the rosters expanding...but not because the Cubs have given up on him 'once and for all'. I think Patton is still rehabbing his groin actually. He only threw 40 pitches or so the other night against the BayBears and they pulled him after 2 runs scored on errors after the 2nd. I can only piece together that it's because of the injury. I was secretly hoping they released him or tradedf him or something. Didn't happen :( They let Jeremy Papelbon throw the majority of the game. Hopefully if Patton is fully healthy they continue to keep him down in AA, he doesn't belong on the MLB roster. If they can hide him away for the rest of the season, Patton would make a nice arm to have in the system. Why go through that much trouble? Cant they just make a deal with the Rockies(or is it the Reds?) so they dont have to go through all that? I doubt hed cost too much in return.
  16. Indians pretty much want to deal anyone not named Grady Sizemore. If only they had a 2B that could hit who hadnt already been traded to the Cardinals for a package we could have matched.
  17. Brad Snyder watch 2009: Any sign of him?
  18. In the past 12 months Jason Bay Xavier Nady Nate McCLouth Adam Laroche Nyjer Morgan Jack Wilson Ian Snell and Freddy Sanchez is likely close behind have all been dealt. AM I forgetting anyone? If Im a Pirates fan looking to buy a player jersey, Id see if they do rentals.
  19. I didnt realise that Betemit was once that highly regarded.
  20. I'm really hoping the Jays hold on to Halladay until the offseason. That way the Cubs may be able to get involved, although I don't think we have the organizational firepower to win a bid like that. Wed have to pretty much clearout the farm. Wed be talking Vitters, Jay Jackson, Cashner, and Carpenter and then some.
  21. Especially considering sending Shark down serves a purpose to stretch him out as a starter, which is where his future is, at least one would think.
