  1. Hes hitting .426 with a 1.159 OPS. Hes got to be. His night is over though, as Optiz has been put in for him. I hoe nothings wrong, or he hasnt been traded for a mediocre reliever. I know the Smokes are up 16-5, and they might want to giv him the rest of the night off, but hes a homer away from the cycle, and dont managers like to give guys the oportinity to finish the job?
  2. If we cant get good trade value for Theriot, I have no problem with keeping him around at 2B.
  3. Is Matt Spencer worth tracking? Hes only played 5 games, but hes doing very well for himself. Hes 2-3 with a 2B tonight. How great would it be if the throw in for Aaron Miles turned out to be worth a damn?
  4. Castro with yet another 2 hit game, a triple and a single.
  5. Sure he does. It's ridiculous people are acting like a bench guy who has barely played this year needs to be gone after 16 games. Has he not looked go so far? Obviously, and he just had a crappy AB right now, but it's not worth it getting worked up over him being on the team at this point. This at bat was actually not nearly as bad as all of the rest of the ones he's had so far this year. There's just got to be a better option. For what? He's not serving a very critical role on the team. He's the 24th guy, and we're only 17 games into the season. The good thing about Tracy is it gives us an easy guy to dump if we do decide to bring up Castro. That way, the Cajuns can platoon at 2B and let Baker be your super sub.
  6. I think Ramirez should be there as well. As cold as he is, Suppan is the type of pither that he can heat up against.
  7. The Brewers can slug the tar out of the ball, but defense was never really there thing. Nice move there.
  8. I see no reason not to give him a shot at league min. He cant be any worse than what we have.
  9. This is one horrible looking lineup. I know its just Jeff Suppan,. but the Brewers offense has been on a hell of a tear. I know its just the Pirates, but damn. Looks like Ole Lous gone right past senility straight to dementia. Next thing you know he'll be biting orderlies because they're stealing his custard. I guess winnings over rated anyway.
  10. But hes 1-2 with a bad ERA, and thats all that matters in Lou Lou Land.
  11. With all of the Castro hype, there are a lot of Smokies quietly having some pretty good seasons. Tony Campana, Steve Clevenger, Tony Thomas, and Brandon Guyer are all doing pretty well for themselves. Do any of these guys have major league futures? I know Thomas had a good start last year, and Clevenger ended up in Iowa toward the end. How about Guyer? A lot of these guys are turning 24 and 25, which is abit old for AAers. Im thinking it might be time to clean house of a lot of the AAAAers in Iowa and give some of these guys a chance. Not that it matters because wed just end up ignoring them and signing more Chad Tracys, Koyie Hills, and Aaron Miles while they rot away and become AAAAers as well.
  12. Gorz traded for a releiver makes more sense. We already have 2 decent lefties in the pen plus Grabow. We need a righty. Gorzo is a decent starter, and could generate some interest by teams with holes in their rotation, but hes certainly not worth sending your ace to the pen for.
  13. Castro 4-7 in the double header and boosted his average to .404 Very good day overall down on the farm. Brad Snyder stays hot, 3-4 with a 2B and 2RBI. However, Ive learned my lesson on AAAA guys in their late 20's no matter how hot they get.
  14. Good to see a lot of our guys starting to hit, but if Lee and Ramirez dont start producing, were fucked. proper fucked. As for Gorzalanny, basically, weve put out ace in the bullpen for a guy who can give you 6 solid innings, which is OK for a 5th or even 4th starter, but you dont banish a guy like Zambrano to the blowpen for him.
  15. Your not getting my point. Im not even really jumping on Tracy. The whole point of Tracy being here was an established major leaguer who can backup Lee at 1st or Aramis at 3rd when they needed time off. Well, this is that occasion when Tracy could be given a shot. If hes ever going to be of value at all, hes going to need to be given some kind of opportunity, and this would be a good time to give him a shot. Hes just been given a few pinch hitn appearences here and there, and thats no way to make a decision on a player. Granted, I dont see him hitting Johan, but I dont see Fontenot hitting him either. Has Tracy even played an inning of defense this season?
  16. So whats the over/under on Chad Tracys release date? He sure as hell isnt hitting the ball, and the main reason for having him was to spell Ramirez and Lee every now and then. If He isnt doing either, theres really no purpose to keeping him around, and as a minor league invite, we dont stand to lose anything. May as well bring up Barney, Hoffpauir, Fuld, Snyder, or whoever.
  17. Because you have other guys in the bullpen desperate for pitching time in low leverage situations. The Cubs need to capitalize on those. Besides, it's usually not a bad idea to make sure the opposing team doesn't have a chance to adjust to a reliever if he's given you a good inning, especially if it's a pitcher without overwhelming stuff. It's not like he had to go back out there because the bullpen was taxed or because the lead was close. In short, there was no need to send him back out there. He's a reliever, he got you your three outs, you have other guys that need to pitch; pick someone else. We were desperate for a win. The lead wasn't so big I would feel fully safe putting in one of the others. We needed to get some positive going before things imploded. It wont matter after this Friday when we get out $18 million set up man :banghead:
  18. Id leave Soriano right where he is. He seems like one of those guys who doesnt respond well to change, and when he get in his grove, you dont want to disrupt it.
  19. Soto has been hitting well for a while now. Lou needs to use Koyie Hill as what he is, a backup catcher. As for the game, we really needed one like this after the last 4 coupled with Lous idiotic move earlier today. Something really does need to be done about Ramirez. Its gone past bad luck and he looks lost at pretty much every AB. We need a legit cleanup hitter. I like Byrd, but hes not it.
  20. You can pretty much say that about every player in baseball, but yeah, Sorianos extremes are much more than most players. If we can get .275/.325/.500 type numbers out of him over the next few years, which is around his career averages Ill take it, as long as his defense isnt too costly. The fact is, his contract is what it is, and theres nothing anyone can do about it, so we may as well just stop talking about it. Hes not going to be Pujols or Braun, but if he can give us some solid production out of the 5-6 spot, Ill take it.
  21. Well, we still have 2 survive 3 innings from our pen.
