  1. This time last year I would've put higher odds on ARCubsfan making that post forgot about that guy. did he get banned? Was that the dude who was outted as a Cards troll?
  2. The problem is I easily start rooting for crazy things. Like last September I wanted to catch the Cardinals. This year I want to be ten games ahead in the division by June and win it in late August and win 120 games. Catching STL was totally not crazy last year. If not for the stupid way we lost one of those September games (I think it was the day before all the beanball crap happened), I think we would have. IMHO, knocking them off the way we did was actually more satisfying than some dumb old division flag.
  3. I seriously don't care at all. We are going to lose 2 games in a row some times. Maybe even 3 or 4. We will probably have a stretch where we win 3 of 10 games. This team has already proven they are [expletive] awesome and baseball has already proven to me that all teams slump during a season True, true, and true. But being no hit by some guy who filled out a job application would be kind of humiliating.
  4. Ok, can we not make this nobody think that he's somebody?
  5. He did give The Tigers 0.1 shutout innings last year, so maybe he can give us 30-40.
  6. Really wish there were some way to get a look at Vogelbach in the big leagues. But with our next trip to an AL park is the White Sox for 2 games in late July, if we do see him, it's not likely.
  7. A guy they just signed. Looks like he's been all over the place, including a few big league cups of coffee, which were more Folgers than Starbucks.
  8. horsefeathers Aroldis Chapman. He's a dirt bag and he's guilty as sin, and there's nothing that's going to change my mind.
  9. Wouldn't shock me at all if Edwards were up in the very near future. As in the next few days.
  10. If we could keep Schwarbs and Contreras and get Trout? Bye bye everyone else. Hell, I'd FB happier keeping Baez and Contreras because Schwarbs gets a lil redundant with Trout We could easily get Trout without giving up Contreras, Schwarbs, and Baez. Because they'd be asking for something more along the lines of Bryant and Russell as a starting point. When you have the kind of high priced, sinking ship that the Angels have, if they're going to trade Trout, it's going to be for nothing short of an instant rebuild.
  11. Gleyber's been on a tear lately. Good to see. Very good to see.
  12. I'm not suggesting Granderson for Braun. I think an arm and a prospect would do it, and New York benefits from that. If you're thinking about potentially using a DH in the World Series, does that 6th rotation arm help you more than Braun? But again, the Mets are broke and cheap. Don't they have Bobby Bonilla and Bret Saberhagen coming off the books in the next decade or two?
  13. Step on a scorpion, you 2 bit dandy.
  14. The A's, who will trade him to us the following June.
  15. Let 'em have this one, and cut their heads off in the nightcap.
  16. [bbvideo=560,315] [/bbvideo] Or as they'd say in the NHL, walk it off.
  17. Can the bullpen maybe not give up any more big home runs to bad players?
  18. So I think I've finally found the flaw with this team. In years past, we've always had that one guy we could blame when things go wrong. From Neifi Perez to Aaron Miles to Koyie Hill, Jason Marquis to Bob Howry to Edwin Jackson, we've never been without a scapegoat. Sadly, we don't have that guy anymore. I mean yeah, Clayton Richard kind of sucks, but it's not like he's ever going to find himself in a high leverage situation ala Phil Coke or Brian Schlitter. Even during Munenori Kawasaki's brief big league stint, he managed to hit .500. And even if he was given the opportunity to suck, the guy's just so darned lovable, I don't think anyone could bring themselves to boo him. I guess in September, we can see if Justin Germano or Brian Bogosevic are available. But for now, I guess we'll just have to like everyone.
  19. any relation to Justin Berg? How dare you. On a side note, whenever I see Patton in an Iowa box score, I find myself double checking that it's not David.
  20. Should be 27-6. Lousy dumb rain outs vs. the lousy, dumb Brewers and lousier, dumber Braves.
  21. Thank you Hector. An 8-3 8th inning lead vs. The Padres had no business turn into a quasi-thriller.
  22. Yeah, but don't people tie every contender to every serviceable veteran on a bad team?
  23. I had no idea that The Astros were so awful. If it keeps up, I have to imagine that they're going to be eager to flip some rentals to further beef up their young core. Though we don't have any glaring weaknesses, they do have some interesting options; Colby Rasmus for LF; would be useful in driving right handed pitchers to drink heavily. Doug Fister could be Post-May Jason Hammel insurance. And how about Luke Gregerson or Tony Sipp as upgrades over Clayton Richard? All are free agents after 2016, so probably wouldn't be overly expensive.
  24. Yeah next off day is Thursday. Coming off a high energy 4 game weekend series with an extra innings ending, they could use a little rest. We're playing the Padres. How much more rest can you get without a priest standing over you?
